Clarence Williams III, who played the cool undercover cop Linc Hayes on the counterculture series “The Mod Squad” and Prince’s father in “Purple Rain,” has died. He was 81.

Williams died Friday at his home in Los Angeles after a battle with colon cancer, his manager Allan Mindel said Sunday. Tributes came quickly on social media from both those who worked with Williams and those who admired him for his trailblazing roles and impactful performances.

A very interesting athlete.
As the race was won in a World record time (and a time that 'The Flying Sikh' would never better), by a man he had never beaten, the Gold may have been beyond him.
He certainly was very unfortunate not to win a medal in that race. The 4 fastest Olympic 400m times(to that point) in the same race. Sadly, his was the 4th!

Good riddance. He left Iraq and Afghanistan a bloody mess, and approx. 40 detainees still in Gitmo. A sinister chapter in American history.
