I like old science fiction books to see how they got it right and wrong in envisioning the future. Heinlein's Door Into Summer was right on target about a few things, which I found fascinating since the book was written in 1956. For cultural snapshots I like "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner" and "Inherit The Wind."

My friend Attila and I used to fly around to OTB tournaments and we'd always each buy a new chess book at every tournament, but neither of us ever got around to reading the darn things! 😞
