So, Pete was on dennis Miller's sport's show last night and Miller believes the steroid scandal will help his chances of getting into the Hall of Fame. Even if I did think Pete should be forever banned, I'd have to agree that this mess kinda puts it in perpective, and I'd have to reconsider lettin' Charlie Hustle in. What dy'all think?

I think the MLB rule POSTED CLEARLY IN EVERY CLUB HOUSE says "Don't gamble, or you will be REMOVED from baseball."
Nothing has changed... that's like some guy in jail for domestic disturbance thinking he'll get out early because they caught a killer.

The rub occurs if they pull an Art Schlister (sp?) and run up more debt than you can pay, and you would be in position to compromise your own sport as a forgiveness of debt.

Should it keep him out of the HOF? Tough question. I used to think so. Now, I am more inclined to think that keeping the all-time hit leader out makes the HOF a joke, particularly when some of the 'roiders will no doubt get in [if they haven't already].
However, the HOF elections are political, and I will not be surprised if he never gets in.

Baseball players need to be accountable for their actions. I am tired of hearing that clubs profited or were wilfully ignorant. Clemens and Bonds cheated and their numbers need to be stricken. Their MVPs and Cy Youngs need to be taken away. No Hall of Fame, no retired numbers. No days honoring their tainted achievements
In other sports that is the way. No one says Canada tried to profit from Ben Johnson or the US postal team tried to profit from its cheating cyclists or the US track team tried to profit from cheating. If you are caught cheating they strip you of your achievements and ban you from future play If Marion Jones being stripped of 5 olympic metals and banned from the next olympics for her Balco involvement, why not the same for Barry Bonds. In college football no one says Florida State is responsible for the tutor giving people answers on tests (although clearly the University hires the tutor and therefore there is a much stronger case that they are responsible). It is the players who have free will and are suspended. No one blames Arthur Blank and the Falcons for being wilfully ignorant of Michael Vick's hobbies (or the teams that hire Pacman Jones or Tank Johnson or the endless list of complete degnerates that play in the NFL). The players are punished when they do idiotic things. And in football it has gone on forever, Bill Parcells did not give a damn that Lawrence Taylor was a coke addict. No one talks about the Giants or the NFLs repsonsibility. I think we should stop talking about recovering from the 1994 strike or when what policy was implemented and just punish players who violate rules.
