Seriously though, my guess is that it is some combination of boredom, lack of sleep, blowing off steam, and alcohol. It's only an internet forum after all so people can be as aggravating, irritating, hostile, and belligerent as they like (up to a point) without having to actually suffer the consequences they would in real life.

but seriously now, the internet world of blue electron allows people to remain anonymous, which gives these people an ability to 'blow off steam' without the consequences of doing exact same thing in real life. it's like an escape, here you can be whatever you want to, anything you can't be in your real life. and hey, quite a lot of people prefer this escape from reality ...
