Personally I don't even think they are jokes. What I think they are is insults that are being defended as jokes just like the KKK tries to defend their racism as jokes. All we can go by is what he s ...[text shortened]... se you have lived with him for years. What you say holds no more water than what I have said.
I have read his serious posts in the Debates forum, as well as his posts in private forums and some private messages. There was also a time when I was very much into sarcasm myself, so maybe I detect sarcasm more easily than you.

MAYBE you are right. MAYBE the rest of the world is ahead of the US in this area.

I don't think that you saying so or me stating the opposite opinion is dispostive of the question.

There were a number of race riots in Europe this past year. The US hasn't had a race riot since the Rodney King incident many years ago.
Racial slurs are common place ...[text shortened]... legal immigrants.

I don't profess to know the answer. That is why I used the word MAYBE.
I agree with MAYBE, meaning we both don't know (and not really important either, I believe). I never claimed any position, only questioned your inference, which is not the same as stating the contrary. You should make it more clear what exactly you claim, and not suggest or hint.

Do you stop talking if you are anywhere close to children? You can't know what their parents might not want them to hear.

Let's lighten this thread up a bit, shall we?

Here's a funny Asian joke, (told by an Asian, don't forget) :

What do you call a woman with only one arm and one leg?
Eileen.

What do you call an Asian woman with only one arm and one leg?
Irene.

BUHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!

Oh Mercy.

Okay, as you were.

I was suggesting that Europe had some race issues that were new to me. I was surprised to find that many of these issues were similiar to issues the US dealt with many years ago.

From that I suggested that MAYBE the US was ahead of Europe in race relations. Intuitvely, that idea struck me as odd. The US more than almost every other country in the world except South Africa is known for it's history of racial issues.

Oprah said we should rather say "nigger", instead of "the N word".

Everyone knows Oprah is actually God.

Can I also say it in place of the "O word"?

Some kindergarten teachers spell out the letters of words they don't want the children to hear, instead of saying the word. It's probably a great way to teach children to read (someone told me that her kindergarten teachers or parents had done the same, and it didn't take long until she had figured it out).

Europe (and other continents) had racism (and many other forms of discrimination) long before non-Americans discovered America. Hard to say if USA and South Africa are 'ahead' or 'behind' in this sad race.
