If you just want to nit-pick, I'm not interested.

You're not generally interested in replying to anything that strongly contradicts you.

That ultra-political-correctness is an interesting phenomenon. In connection with one of my bans, I had a discussion with a mod where I learned that a person who' ...[text shortened]... nce, and it may explain some of the problems in international forums like this one.
I wish you had posted this before my posts. So much better and more diplomatic.

No matter where? So you are going to do this at a kid's birthday party?

Please.

How often do you discuss the semantics of colloquial swear words at a children's birthday party? I think she was suggesting there is a natural limiting factor to these things. However I'm not entirely sure that using a word to insult and using it in a transparent way during discussion are the same thing; it's not the word that hurts people, it's the intention with which it is used.

You will argue about anything!

Your friend, who has made it clear that he doesn't like me and is opposed to everything I do or say, has agreed with me on this point and yet you still want to argue it?

We don't use the N-word over here. You can argue all you want about whether that is right or wrong. Whether it fits into your view of the universe. But, we don't use the word. African-American's use a variation of the word that rhymes with Triggah, but even they will get angry if another African American uses the word, particularly to refer to them.

The one exception is African-American comedians.

That doesn't mean I never find his jokes offensive, and it also doesn't mean I would make the same kind of jokes myself. Have you ever read a post by me which could be considered offensive to disabled people? If so, please point it out to me.

As for my wo ...[text shortened]... nsive jokes on an internet forum doesn't say anything about how he acts in real life.
You are right. that is my point you claim he isn't all those things. How are you so sure? YOU say you find his jokes offensive yet you protect him for them. Personally I don't even think they are jokes. What I think they are is insults that are being defended as jokes just like the KKK tries to defend their racism as jokes. All we can go by is what he says on the forum. That is unless you have gone out on dates with him and you know from personal experience that he isn't abusive to women and children because you have lived with him for years. What you say holds no more water than what I have said.

Can you give me a reason why you shouldn't use a swear word (in a non-insulting way during a discussion) in front of children?

It's utter nonsense to say the N-word isn't used in the US.

Children love new words. You'll know that soon enough. My wife made the mistake of explaining my boy's penis to my cousin's daughter and it's about all she said for a week.

That's why.
