it's not the word that hurts people, it's the intention with which it is used.
Somehow this debate got deflected into a debate on whether or not American's use the N-word.
We do not use the word. Many people have come forward to say that we do not use the word.
Now, I also agree with anyone who is arguing that the fact that we do or do not use that word does not prove or disprove anything other than the question itself!
Originally posted by PhlabibitI'm still not sure what's bad about that, embarassing to you as parents, should other parents find out (since they hold the action as taboo), but why bad for the child?
Children love new words. You'll know that soon enough. My wife made the mistake of explaining my boy's penis to my cousin's daughter and it's about all she said for a week.
That's why.

You will argue about anything!
Your friend, who has made it clear that he doesn't like me and is opposed to everything I do or say, has agreed with me on this point and yet you still want to argue it?
We don't use the N-word over here. You can argue all you want about whether that is right or wrong. Whether it fits into your view of the universe. ...[text shortened]... the word, particularly to refer to them.
The one exception is African-American comedians.
Awww...forget it. 😞

Originally posted by cashthetrashDon't worry, you are. But I sort of understand your concern. I am working in many different kindergartens, and once in a while I meet kindergarten teachers or assistants whose attitude towards the children is such that I think they shouldn't work with children at all. The effects on the children are often quite noticeable, and it's very sad to see that. In such a situation it would be a bad decision to keep silent about it to protect the kindergarten teacher. You may have felt the same way about me. The difference, of course, is that I base my evaluations on the kindergarten teachers' work, talking with them about their work, observing the children etc., while you base yours on forum posts which are not in any way related to my work.
I hope I am quite frankly.
Originally posted by PhlabibitFeel free to stay away from here then. We tend to find 'idiot' more offensive than any 'f-word'.
