I always make a letter count when I read a post, and I only give recs for posts with an unusually high number of o's (it's a nice and round letter with a nice and round sound). I also won't rec posts with too many r's (the letter is neither nice-looking nor nice-sounding, and I have never been able to pronounce the apical R properly despite practising for years, so the letter makes me feel bad). I thought everybody did that (meaning the letter count - I am sure different people have different preferences when it comes to favourite letters).

Perhaps we could bait him out with more recs?

Surely His Scientific Objectivity would not be tempted by such an ephemeral lure. Rather tickle his feet, there where they're hanging out his arse.

After I started this survey I added another method of analysis, letter frequency. I wrote a quick and dirty java program (thanks to Starrman for helping to optimise my code so it didn't take all day to run) that would count how often each letter occurred in a block of text and then add it to a total.

Here is the processed data:

Jesus Christ , man! Do you know what girls are? Have you ever talked to one? Kissed one?

You really do NEED to get out from behind that computer.

Hmm, well that is a very interesting finding.

Perhaps certain letters are "friendlier" and "nicer" than others. When it comes to the vowels, I've always "liked" A and O, and never been very fond of E, I and U. Couldn't tell you why.

I once analyzed lotto payouts and determined that certain numbers are much more popular than others. Whenever the ...[text shortened]... urse, because I doubt that anyone goes, "Ooooh, four X's in that post... Rec."
Now I understand why spelling is so important to Xan. It messes up the study of rec's. Because if you count each misspelled word and the letters in each word verses correct spelling the results of the wasted time in doing this study could be completely false and misleading which can cause drug companies to create drugs that cause cancer.

Wonder if it would also work on random girls in bars?

I will test out the following chat up lines tomorrow night:

"Oh, a hog!"

and

"Ho, gag!"

and report back.

Assuming I get out alive.
