Originally posted by sonhouseWell nobody has put a singer/songwriter in so here is our family project, a song by our daughter in law, Charlotte, a swedish citizen who married our son Troy. So we were living in Jerusalem near the old city and another son, Josh, came from the states to visit and they started a relationship and she wrote this song which I recorded in our flat there in Jerusalem. That relationship did not work out but Troy fell in love and they got married, 2 kids, live west of Philly. Anyway, this is the song that came out of the not to be relationship. When we got back home, I added a bass, and a couple of dulcimer parts and got a family friend Mekka, to do a backup vocal.
Ah, finally someone comes to the fro in singer/songwriter.
The song is called 'Another Ragged Phoenix Will Be Rising.
A Jennings family production! Nobody outside our family has ever heard this song, its our little secret. You guys are in for a treat I think, she is a great singer and songwriter, even if it didn't work out in real life! I sort of goofed and put the song inside a folder so it is a folder inside the singer/songwriter folder.
So the musicians are Charlotte, me, (sonhouse AKA Don Jennings) and Mekka.
Originally posted by gregsflatThat is the only way right now, but anyone who wants could rip these songs and make a link to their site if they like to help share. I would do something like that, but don't have a lot of time with slow DSL, and my website is slower than evolution I've been told.
If members just want to lisen, they have to go to the gspace account, correct? There's no other way for them to hear the selections?
I guess if someone used myspace they could put them there? I don't know anything about it, but I hear the youtube only takes movies, no mp3 unless you convert.
I'm sure there are other fancy ways computer users share music, but I really don't know. I don't have a computer at all, and get to rhp using my mind only.

Originally posted by sonhouseIt takes all of ten minutes to install FF and Gspace. Anyone who wants to host it; fine, but FF is not standing in the way of anything. IE should be eradicated as a browser by anyone with any real sense.

Originally posted by PhlabibitHey, I think it's a good strategy to get people off the IE tit, just wonder how many people will actually do it.
Hear hear!
As I said, anyone is welcome to host them someplace else if they feel Firefox is too much for must people. I'd do it out of kindness, but I'm done being nice.

NEW CATEGORIES: discussion welcome
I want to compare entrants by resources rather than genre but I know this will create extra complications.
Firstly, I want to recognise anyone who contributed an original entry by having a 1.1 Best Original Piece/Song section.
Secondly, we have some great instrumental pieces, I thought they could be divided into 2.1 Best Solo Instrumental
2.2 Best Group Instrumental
Thirdly, we have some versions involving vocal arrangements which are also nice, maybe the division could be 3.1 Best solo song(that is one player)
3.2 Best Band (combining vocals)
Fourthly, we had quite a few computer generated responses and I think it is unfair to compare them with the other groups so they thereby warrant a separate category. 4.1 Best Computer Generated Piece
Fifthly, we could also have a catch-all 5.1 Best Technique/Musician Category.
I know these categories are close to what Starrman predicted but I based these ones on entrants. If anyone thinks I am way off beam (or even slightly) post now and correct my categories.
Originally posted by demonseedThats a good choice. I would add something about covers though. That about covers it๐
