Hey Kirksey, are your fingers Sor now🙂 nice piece. Did you record that first with a cassette?

I am having similar difficulties with recording because I am a complete technophobe. It's strange that stuff that sounds okay live doesn't sound as good recorded or maybe I am just having to face the awful truth that my play is shiite.
Anyway I have decided to invest in some new strings and work on a completely new piece since everything sounds too stale.

I have problems with the kids too, I'll be doing my magnus opum🙂 and BOOM, a door slams, 6 teenagers crash up the stairs and there I am with inappropriate percussion! I usually have to record at like, 2 am or such when hopefully they are asleep. Thats why I do a better job both compositionally and performance wise when I am in a hotel on the job out of town. I did pretty much a whole CD of original instrumentals in a small motel in Toledo a few months ago. Have you been to my myspace, checked it out yet? donjenningsguitar there, I have 4 originals from my CD.

Originally posted by sonhouseYou really have to watch background noise from others when you are recording because if the piece becomes a hit, you know their lawyers will be all over you like stink on poop wanting a share of the royalties for their contribution. 😉

Originally posted by demonseedSame here. I think the biggest problem is the microphone. Last time I used the little microphone (a nanophone?) that came with the minidisk player, but the sound is terrible. Yesterday I tried another microphone I had at work (that's also what I used for the kitchen music). It's better in some ways and worse in others. I might look for a better microphone today.

Originally posted by sonhouseIs that an artificial harmonic section in your piece sonhouse? And did you arrange it for solo guitars and did you record another guitar at some stages to layer it a bit?
Why thank you! I worked for weeks, slaving over every note🙂 Well Actually, it was done in about two takes.
I really liked it btw.
Originally posted by sonhouseI can't take any credit for the perfomance, only the arrangement. It is all made from looping sound effects and audio samples of drums, synths and regular instruments. That piece took about 5-6 hours to make.
interesting piece, is that one synth? how long did it take you to do?
