Don't fret. I thought the kitchen music was quite cool and really didn't notice if the sound quality was poor or not.

I am off to buy new strings for my guitar. Was going to try to prepare the Usher Waltz by Koshkin but then I realised I would need three years.

Well, it matters more for the cello than for glasses and salad bowls.

While, I'd like to enter, there's no way in hell I'd have anything ready for the 4th. But then, I prolly wouldn't even get a chance before the end of August, so carry on. I may give ye the opportunity to allow me to make your ears bleed outside of the comp.

Demonseed has taken over, and the new deadline is 15th August: http://www.timeforchess.com/board/showthread.php?threadid=73569&page=12#post_1401520
(A bit confusing that we have two music comp threads...)

We can also be a bit flexible with that date but ideally that would be the deadline. We have had a few entries which you can listen to on GSpace by following the directions, as laid out by Starrman, on page one of this thread.

Nordlys: pots and pans etc require delicate acoustics that are a lot more subtle than the requirements of the rather clumsy cello which is just a thing between one's legs that one scratches.

Sorry I was thinking of the legendary Sir Thomas Beecham put down and I couldn't help it.

Apparently he said to a Cellist, "My dear lady you have a thing there between your legs capable of giving pleasure to thousands and all you can do is scratch it."

My husband still isn't very happy, although he agrees that I scratch him more often than he likes. 😳

I have uploaded the first movement of Zoltán Kodály's Sonata op. 8. I am not really happy with it (neither with the sound nor with my playing), but don't have the time to do anything more about it. I have put it into "Covers", following Starrman's rules, but if you think it should be somewhere else to make it more fair, feel free to move it wherever you feel it belongs (if the categories stay as they are, that might be "Instrumental", although I already have a piece in there). I saw that kirksey has put the Sor into "Instrumental".

Now I'd better start packing, I am leaving tomorrow very early in the morning.

I was just listening to it and I thought it was very nice. Am about to listen again, very atmospheric.

There is no way in hell we can classify those as covers; they are instrumentals but not covers.

Thanks.

Well, Starrman classifies them as covers, but I agree that it's a strange classification. As I said, feel free to move it. And if you want to put it in "Instrumental", but I can't have two pieces in the same category, discard the kitchen music.

We'll keep all as it is for the time being and sort out the details afterwards.

Now THATS what I was expecting from you, something great! I had to listen to the Kolady with earphones, didn't want the distraction of the house and speakers.
So you mentioned going off somewhere? Vacation?

Kitchen music was awesome. My kid and I were commiserating about how all that creative "improvized bangin" was more musical than what I had. Good job.
