Well your Django is an instrumental but not a solo, the catagories are a bit mixed up for sure. My guess is it doesn't make much differance. Your Django was pretty good for sure. Three tracks, what did you use? Cubase? Sonar? Audacity? Was the bass a regular stringed electric or a keyboard? My guess, a real bass.
On your Carolina, good guitar backup but the vocal had some intonation problems at times, good song. Don.

Cubase, with a guitar through an octave pedal for the bass track.

That's because I can't sing.

Thanks for the submission Dr.S. As I have stated numerous times before do not panic about the categories as yet.

You sing fine, you have a good voice. The intonation thing is just a matter of practice, so my daughter tells me, she has an Ma in music from Wesleyan and her Ba from Berklee school of music in boston and a lot of vocal training in India.
The octave petal thing, is that an octave converter? Can something like that work with an acoustic guitar?

It's just a digital effect. You can get a box like one of these:
http://www.samash.com/catalog/categorysub.asp?CategorySubID=1042&departmentid=1&sourcetype=categorysearch
or even do the shift from within the mixing software, but neither way sounds that great. You're definitely better off investing in a cheap bass and a direct injection box if you want to record good bass parts.

I've just listened to every song that anyone put up there. I think there should be only one category - "People who have the hangers to put themselves out there to the world without the benefit of fame or fortune." Brilliant stuff, everyone. Disregard any naysayers, the flaws are what make it real, and somehow gives the music feeling beyond perfection.

The problem with the categories is that the rules state only one submission per category. So if the categories are unimportant, is that rule also unimportant?

Yes, make as many submissions as you like without taking the piss.

How do you listen to the entries? When I go to gspace it'll let me upload into empty files, but that's it as far as I can tell.

Log in and use password.
You should see some folders.
Click in to the folders, you will see songs.
select a song, and use that arrow to "grab" the music and put it on your computer.

Let me know if you need more help.

Thanks! I tried that on the screen that looked like your usual FTP screen, but I never got anything in the folders on the left. However, I was able to access the music by just going to the gmail portion's inbox. Nice work there!

I've made a folder on my desktop, and browsed for it on the left. There I download into similar folders as the online list.
