Congradulations on having such a nice family however whilst everything you type regarding your daughters is of course true it still doesn't give you the right to set the standards for and judge everyone else. Personally I have no/little interest in watching porn but I would never criticise others for doing so.
I walked into a gas station the other day and as soon as I entered the store, carying my infant daughter, there was a rack of dirty magazines with nakes women groping each other. There was complete nudity at eye level to children. And not true expression of nudity, which is completly different, it's air brushed nudity of women licking each others breasts. What impact is this having on the young children that walk into that store? I don't think that the need for adult sexuall desires need to be put on such a high level of openess that it disrespects the innocence of children. I'm thankfull my older kids weren't with me at the time and at least I now know this is a place to avoid. Pretty sad when I have to knock corner stores off the list of acceptable places I can go with my girls. I worked in alot of corner stores that sold these magazines but at least the owners had the common sense to have them out of reach and covered up so that kids could not access the material. Bit off topic I know.
For me personally, I would prefer an open and free sexual relationship within the confines of the person I'm with. I do not need the aid of pornography to get me aroused or give me new or exciting ideas in the bedroom. I also would not want such things secretly hidden away in my home where the chances my children may someday go snooping around and discover it, warping their image of what normal, healthy sexuality is for a woman.
If it's such an exciting turn on to watch porn then why not simply tape yourself (and consenting parner/parteners) having sex and watch that. Why contribute and rely on one of the most seedy industries to fullfill your needs? I never will truly understand the attraction for men to watch other men getting off.
My position on porn will not change. I am against it and have every right to my opinion. I do not put the blame on men in some men destroy the world hate on. It's an equal opportunity blame. From a mothers standpoint on the subject, I did not go through the pain of having and raising my daughters just so they could waste their lives providing a false reality of sex to the world. Those women in those movies are all daughters. Wonder if their parents are proud and show their daughters films to all their friends and brag about what a successful and meaningfull career she has as she's getting her pretty face covered in the goo of 4 or 5 men. My guess would be no.
There's more to porn than meets the eye and the problem is most people don't care, they just want to enjoy the end product regardless of the truth behind the imagery. Sex is a natural and beautiful expression of many different human emotions. Porn is not this.

What I said was it is not right to judge others for doing so, and of course you are entitled to your opinion however I don't think it's very nice or polite to label them as sad, as everyone has their weakenesses. As for what you say about porn on display where childern can see it I couldn't agree more! But as I am so busy with renovating 2 flats and trying to move into a house in the country that also needs work, not to mention running my business and trying to give my gf the time she deserves I will hand over to those that DO watch porn to defend their actions now. Over to you guys (or girls maybe that was sexist).

Further, did you think of them every friggin time you put on those sneakers? No? Well, then you shouldn't judge people who like porn so harshly-I think exploiting children is worse than exploiting adult women, if you need to call it exploiting (not saying they're not exploited... just not all of them).

Since they are forced to work because of poverty, then yes, they are being exploited because they have no choices. They have to take the stupidly small pay.

Originally posted by fiestaIts a difficult problem. My company has made a decision not to buy from manufactureres that use child labour. But where do you draw the line. I work in engineering and many third world suppliers use child labour. Ok so we dont use them. But the ones that we do use could be being supplied with steel and tools and other materials etc by companies that do use child labour. How far do you go? How can you tell? We vet all of our suppliers and can only ask the question but they are under no obligation to tell the truth.

Life is a responsibility and nothing in the world will ever change until we ourselves change in our attitudes towards money, power and consumption. I'm not perfect in all the decisions I make but at least I make an effort to not act impulsively and try to make educated choices.

I do not feel that mokko is necesserily "judging" these people as much as the content of the porn and its role in society.I for one must confesss to liking porn but I do try to avoid it as much as possible. The affect it has in preconditioning the minds of our young people is to often negative.
I think that to give so many false expectations can lead to diminished relationships. It is natural to desire from your partner the things that look fun to you in a movie.
Most woman (and men) do not like to indulge in the wide variety of 'games' displayed.
The best place to learn what is fun is from your lifetime partner. There is less room for disappointment. That comes from being 'taught' normality.
Originally posted by mokkoI once remember when I worked in a hospital that specialized in spinal injuries and those types of disabilities that I went to an inservice on "sexuality and the quadraplegic." Part of the inservice was basically a porno movie that was educational in its scope. The man was a quadraplegic and the woman was normal/healthy. It basically gave validity to the issue of sexuality for those with that kind of injury. But what I remember most was at the end was a woman saying how disgusted she was by that behavior. It was quite shaming for the quadraplegics in the room and I'm not quite sure if she understood what she had just said.

I would venture to guess that most males get their sexual education from pornography. When there is a void from the family, church and all those institutions that we think should be teaching us about this, it is understandable that pornography should fill this void.
I must share this story as well. I am a fan of Howard Stern. As you may know he is very open about sexuality and his love for pornography and pornstars. One of the most interesting, and dare I say, holy programs I ever saw was when a young man from Mississippi came to his studio to visit him. He was dying from kidney failure and it had been one of his goals to meet Howard. Several things happened in this encounter. He asked him to get into a casket and describe what that was like for him. He also had several beautiful strippers come in to give them both massages. Some may not see any intentionality in these things, but this young man left with more of a zeal for life than he had ever known. How is that possible?
I think he responded to the fact that everyone took him seriously and where not threatened by the fact he was dying. If that comes from a situation like this, who am I to pass judgment?
A couple of months ago I visit an old codger and he was looking at these women in evening gowns wrestle. They eventually tore off their gowns and threw each other in the hot tubs near by. He laughed and laughed. He died two days later. I like to think that he enjoyed not being judged in those moments I was with him.
Do any others of you have any positve experiences with porn?
