Lynard Skynard did Freebird. Sweet Home Alabama is ok by them.

Stairway to Heaven is reputedly the best song ever made/most requested on radio/in most peoples list of favourites etc etc. [Led Zeppelin]

Try Muse. They did a song called Hysteria which is probably their best.
English rock trio, sound a bit like Radiohead.

but to broaden your scope, id recommend Lynyrd Skynyrd, Zeppelin, and Def Leppard to compliment your metal taste
if you really want to expand, try some Steve Miller Band every once in a while, or Foreigner
