It's not because I would want to build an elevator in real life, or because I don't have elevators here. It's more like playing with bricks or other construction toys. Therefore I wouldn't care much whether the things would stay or not. I would most likely destroy them myself from time to time, so that I could build something new. I think that's quite common there.
I was drawn to TFC as I enjoy playing slow chess. I'd be drawn to second life if I was looking for one.
I understand your reasoning, but it is a complete different way of thought to mine in terms of what I want out of my free time.

I haven't run into too much advertising, as I don't go much to the kind of places where you might get them. Anyway, I wasn't talking so much about objects you can get for free (although I got some fun stuff there, too; a chessboard, for example), but things you can do. You don't have to pay anything to build your own objects.
