"Self-importance is our greatest enemy. Think about it - what weakens us is feeling offended by the deeds and misdeeds of our fellowmen. Our self-importance requires that we spend most of our lives offended by someone."

Modern emphasis on self, feelings and such created this monster! Whatever happened to sticks and stones?

This Erik Idle song says it all!

I think following a group, doing as they do just to be a part of it, is sad.

some words give more pain than a stick or stone could ever do.

Some people aren't as independent either. 😉

I am going to leave you with the last say in your thread. We can agree to disagree on some points. I stand by what I said on Page 4.

I realize as you do some debate, and banter back and forth is needed in the forum to make it lively. We all like to think our position is the correct one. We certainly can not all be right all of the time.

The GF would become a pretty dull spot if everyone agreed on everything, that I know for a fact. I personally enjoyed the GF when it had more posters, with different views on things in general.

So... you only came into this thread to start an off-topic argument with trev33.

Why am I not surprised?

I don't see an argument here hopscotch. Please do not try to make a mountain out of a mould hill, or something out of nothing.

Settle down, your hostility towards me is beginning to become crystal clear.

That's because the "touchy, feely" bunch have persuaded people to stay offended. Just more liberal claptrap! There is no way words hurt more than physical pain. Give me one single example of a word so painful?

Does the word 'twit' fall into this category?

What about what parents say or don't say to their children. Or say to eachother infrount of their children. It's foolish to say words don't hurt. If you love someone then what they say matters. If not, then that's something different.

I think you hit nail on the head.

If you love someone, or like someone as a friend, then the words can hurt.

Other than that they are just words!
