Don't you understand that that's not the point?!
Maybe you haven't considered that botting out like this shows disrespect for the other players.
If Kasparov resigns to Fischer, is Kasparov being disrespectful?
No. He's acknowledging that nothing he can do will change the outcome of the game and rather than delay the inevitable he chooses to finish it early.
It's not a question of being disrespectful. No grandmaster needs a disclaimer stating that, do they?

Game 2355177
Hopeless.
How about "sorry for botting out"?

I am not telling you (well, your minions) that it's disrespectful to sacrifice your chance to win in order to ruin someone else's. Don't tell me it's disrespectful to resign a lost game.

Sorry, this isn't chess. You have insulted a bunch of people who've invested their time and in some cases money in what should be a fun game, win or lose. Now you're trying to justify your spite.
Did you try to get a replacement player? That would have shown a minimum of courtesy, at least.
Originally posted by Bosse de NageThat would imply we're at fault - and it's plain that in this particular case we don't agree on that point.

Sigh. Whatever.
Sorry if your inevitable victory parade has been soured.

This had nothing to do with spite and you're being just as insulting as you claim we are by implying that it is.
The game was fun - you guys have won. Congratulations.
People have invested money - and it paid off by allowing them to win. If anything, the game will now be shortened probably saving them a couple of dollars.
Originally posted by treetalkIt's more apt than yours, since this is a game involving more than two people.
Haha - and your analogy wasn't poor?
Maybe you like this one better: you're winning a match of tennis, when your opponent leaves the court and makes you play against a tennis machine for the last few games.
I can't stay mad at anyone for long. I think you have displayed extremely poor sportsmanship, but that is a matter of opinion. I will ask the opinion of some veteran Age Gamers, just to see what they think, and if they disagree with me I'll be sure to let you know.
So long, then.

You're playing Chinese Checkers. 4 of the players decide they want a fifth person to win, and so they all attack the sixth player. Once the sixth player is taken out, the rest move their pieces in the most convenient way for the designated winner. I wouldn't blame someone for walking away from the game. It wouldn't be fun.
EDIT - You could have similar analogies with Risk, Monopoly, Tag, racing (via whatever method - running, horses, cars) or other games in which there are many players who are individuals and not part of an assigned team. How would you like it if you were in a running race and everyone else decided to get in your way and do whatever else they could to make sure you lose and someone else wins?

I am playing in a veteran's game now - half the players are in the top 20 of the leaderboard - including 2 of the top 3. I know for sure one veteran has resigned in a previous game - and 2 in that vet game have said they will resign in a turn or 2.
It's not unsporting to say, 'Congratulations, you win - I'm resigning'
Originally posted by AThousandYoungSeems like the "birthday boy Monopoly" analogy used against KW in MD. Is that what you're getting at?
