I know what you mean, our town centres are no-go areas during the evening now, which is pretty sad as I live in Brighton on the South coast. It used to be a great time to spend an evening in town, you know have a drink,a meal, walk along the sea front in the Summertime, you can't do this any more because of our Governments so called relaxed drinking laws, which basic ...[text shortened]... ,we would all revert to the continental way of regarding alcohol consumption,I don't think so.
A cultural change in how alcohol is viewed will occur, but it'll take some time.

But I do wonder if it makes us more cynical. The attack had a profound affect upon me for months. I never went out. I was afraid to walk to the local paper shop. Everybody who wore a hood I hated - and still do. But that has to be unjustified, doesn't it?

I really do sit here, right now, in peace and tranquility in Thailand, a land of non-engagement, little violence and youngsters full of respect for elders and think to myself "Thank f I am not in England anymore!"

Even in China, my time coming upto 2 years there, I have never seen a fight or abuse! OK you go to jail for 20 years if you do, but that deterrent makes for societies where peoples' space is respected. I'm all for huge penalties even for the smallest of crimes. It appears to work well in Asia to maintain peoples' safety.

I hope your attack didn't have the same affect upon you as mine did!

Because people will get bored of it. One girl in college said to me once that "drinking's not fun anymore now that I'm 21 and I can just go get alcohol any time I want." It's the Forbidden Fruit syndrome. The restrictions are relaxed, people pig out on formerly forbidden items, then they move on.

Nobody mentioned gun control. Lock the little bastards away for some good time to think, instead of a slap on the wrist which the courts give. Even the police are pissed off with re-arresting the same offenders day in and day out. But then it costs the tax payer 3,000 quid a week to lock somebody away so why should the decent hnest tax payer pay. Just shoot the little bastards and have done with it! Waste of space and oxygen they are! 😛 (LMAO)

The thing that I find amusing is how stupid a lot of hoodies are. I live in an area where if you walk around at night you're gonna get hassled by a guy in a hood or two. The thing I've discovered is that if you wear a hoodie when walking home at night and look meaner then they do, then they leave you alone. It's great. Like some new alpha male walking around their territory only instead of challenging the new male as would happen in the animal kingdom, they just look at each other and scratch haha 🙂

So you are altering your habit and appearance to suit them; altering your norm to avoid hindrance or altercation. That's what all the negative change is all about! And don't forget - they are the so called future! 🙁

What we really need to do is get on with taking over Iraq - then we can ship the scallies there and see how well they get on.
