There should be some sort of organised fighting though, like the good old early days of UFC where most contestants were too crippled to advance to the next round. They have ruined it now with the rounds system and all the rules that turn it into far less of a spectacle and more of a sport.

Modern day gladiators then? and definitely with the intent to kill, maim, or otherwise cripple.

If I ever win the lottery I am going to go to some sort of wild lawless country and set up a gameshow called natrual selection where people compete to the death against the finest specimins the animal kingdom have to offer.

I think it would be pretty popular in those places too, so I could probably negociate some sort of deal with the prisons to use the criminals in the show. If they win they would be set free plus get one million dollars, but I would like to hope the win rate would be lower then takeshis castle so my money would be relatively safe.

You could also use the terminally ill - get them to volunteer and give out money for the length of time they survive - that way any winnings can go to the family wether they win or not
