I just thought of something funny, there wasn't a huge hole in the pentagon made by the plane that hit it, they say that the plane collapsed in on itself or whatever... yet the same planes that hit the WTCs supposedly did enough damage to weaken the entire structure enough that it collapsed...

Are they are different impacts?

Different types of structures, I would think, as I am no expert.
The taller buildings are reliant on the inner steel skelton or framework for rigidity. The flames were said to be hot enough to weaken the steel sufficiently for thw building to collapse.
The Pentagon is a shorter structure, perhaps the exposion was disipated beter at the Penatgon than at the Twin Towers. 😕

OMG! Different holes in a 4 story stone military building vs. a glass and steel skyscraper! That's crazy!

Actually they were both concrete and steel.

If I recall correctly, the plane that hit the Pentagon also impacted the ground before actually striking the wall of the building. That plus the difference in structure noted above by Ice Cold might help explain the differences in the holes.

That would change the velocity of the impact quite a bit I suppose. So a slower impact would not have as much penetration power.
(Note to self, bang wife quicker.)

Contents of overhead compartments may shift during air travel.

I'm sure... but are you saying these are identical buildings and should react the same to a jet running into it?

I say not.

It was all done with holographs and mass-hypnosis.

It was the fire that caused the steel to melt.

According to the book, 'Last Man Down - The Fireman's Story' by Richard Picciotto steel starts to melt at around 1500F and aircraft fuel burns at around 2000F.

Because the fire from the impact of the aircraft/fuel couldn't be controlled the steel basically melted and caused the collapse of the twin towers.

I'd recommend this book. It was a bit repetitive at times but it told the story from a totally different perspective.
