Yes, I own it. Get Battlefield 1942, and then get Galactic Conquest. It's better. And only a 860MB download. Which I d/led thanks to my cable connection.

Meehehehehe.
Not owning up to the illegal piracy of software are you?

Where is your faith...this is Lucas's last opportunity to redeem himself with his loyalists, he may have something for us. (I still liked Episode II better than most of you, but Episode I was indeed terrible).
I agree with you, except I loved the light saber fight at the end of
one, that was outstanding in my opinion. Two didn’t have that
matched at all, with all the fighting in it, nothing was as good as one’s
fight.

Sit back and relax people!

I suggest you SERIOUSLY watch the original triology and you'll see that it never was any better. You were younger, it was newer and so now you're a little disappointed.

If you take the basic story line of the empe ...[text shortened]... n the original!

Obviously I hope Jar Jar gets beheaded. But I like beheadings in most films.
I have seen the original triology probably about 20 times as an over 30 year old adult and you know what? IT IS 100 TIMES better than the crap Lucas has thrown out in these current movies. The reason is very simple: you cared about the characters. They had some depth. I think most would argue episodes 4 and 5 are the best and I would agree. The story lines while having plot holes you could drive a bulldozer through were much forgiven because you believed in the characters, if you consider yourself a fan.

A friend a few years younger than me attempted to feebly argue that the movie "Deep Blue Sea" was better than "Jaws". After about 20 minutes of laughter, I told him nobody is going to remember Deep Blue Sea a year from now, much less 20 years from now. "Jaws" is one of the greatest movies ever made and probably had some of the cheesiest effects. It also had some of the greatest characters too which is why it is considered a classic, in my opinion.

There is no "buzz" around this new triology. A little bit of one now because this is the final payoff many have been waiting for: Anakin's transformation. But do you think you will be quoting lines from this movie in years to come? I highly doubt it.

The thing that makes films brilliant is if they are totally new and original. Heres just a few.

Well I haven't seen Troy but I can't imagine it being in the same league as the other two you mentioned. I don't think it was around a long time in the theaters but I could be wrong?

You are right about originality but I think it's a combination of everything: compelling storyline, compelling characters, compelling actors to play the complelling characters, compelling direction.

Special effects are wonderful but I think can be tossed to the waistside if you are into the movie.

Can't agree with you on this one BLR. I really don't think Lucas gives two squirts about his "loyalists". Episode I and II seem to indicate that but I really think "Jedi" was the start of things going downhill.

I agree Episode II is better than Episode I because, like you said, Episode I was terrible. There was no place for Episode II to go but up.
True... Things went bad with Return of the Jedi. And it wasn't just the stupid Ewoks. Here we were with the epic showdown and the best sales pitch Vader and Emperor Dude and cough up is "IF YOU ONLY KNEW THE POWER"..... "LET ME REPEAT..... IF YOU ONLY KNEW THE POWER!!".... "GIVE IN TO ANGER".

Wow... so impressive. You'd think Evil would have a slicker and more convoulted game plan than to throw up it's hands after such a facile effort.

Anyway... I'm prepared to be disappointed. But I might be bought off if Jar Jar were consumed whole by a Hut.

A rare point of agreement 😉

The both sabre fights in Ep I (the one in the desert and at the end)
were superb. The first one was effective because of its timing and the
way in which it is filmed (sometimes dusty, obscured, other times
distant and off-center). The second one is just amazing. And, believe
it or not, there were parts that were (inexplicably) cut from it. That's
right, there are fully produced parts of it excised from the final release.

If you watch the insipid 'making of Ep I' on the DVD, you will see that
there is about 1 second of Darth Maul fighting with Obi-Wan and Qui-
Gon on the catwalk that doesn't appear in the movie.

That fight could have been 5 minutes longer and I wouldn't have
minded one bit.

The fight at the end of Ep II was disappointing. While I think that
Count Dooku should have disposed of Obi-Wan as quickly as he did,
I think that he should have had more trouble with Anakin. If you read
the scene in the (terrible) novel, you will notice that there is almost a
serenity to Anakin's fighting, that using the force is supremely natural
for him, that two-sabre fighting was as effortless as breathing. Also,
Anakin uses the force to throw objects and whatnot which is described
as a 'dark-force' skill (in the book). If you notice, in the movie,
when Dooku finally chops off Anakin's arm, he sort of sighs in relief.
If he had really had trouble with Anakin, that sigh would have been
very effective; as it is, I find that it is almost silly because of the
brevity of their battle.

That having been said, I can't wait until I see Mace Windu and Darth
Sidious go at it. Pulp Fiction meets Star Wars! Awwwww YEAH!

Mace: Obi-Wan, give me my light saber

Obi-Wan: Master Windu, which one is your light saber.

Mace: It's the one that says 'Bad Mother***er'

It's rumored that Samuel L Jacksons lightsabre does actually have BMF on it's hilt, like in Pulp Fiction, which stands for, and I quote, 'Bad Mother***er'.

And Jimmyb270 - Galactic Conquest is 860Mb to download. Battlefield is something I bought, and I wouldn't download that...it's something like 2 gig on my HDD, so I'm not going to waste 1/6th of the bandwidth on a game I already own.
