What does the star after a name mean? Why do some have wings and others are just a star?

The ones like you without wings are early members when different criteria were in place, and different prices .....I believe.

Originally the site was totally free. As membership grew, it became necessary to upgrade the equipment. Initially Russ and Chris paid for this site and the upgrades out of their own pocket.
Membership kept growing so more upgrades were needed. Members at that time made voluntary contributions to help pay for expenses, and in recognition they were given a star by their username.
Membership continued to grow and more features were added, so the subscription program was introduced. Those who made the original contributions were given a lifetime membership.
All subscribers have stars with 'wings'.
So those stars with wings include both original pawnstars and subscribers. Those with just a star are original pawnstars who are not paying an annual subscription.
(In my case, I subscribed for a while, then discontinued the subscription because I am happy with just a few games at a time. If I were to normally play more than six at a time I would again pay the annual subscription.)
The color of the star and the animation are determined by the number of moves made.

I'm just saying that in my own case I only play a few games at one time, do not belong to any clans, and rarely play in the tournaments, so therefore do not pay the annual subscription fee. If I did play more actively I would again pay annually even though I don't have to.
