If you like this style of chess, then this is the best site around! The only thing it lacks is titled players (like you get on ICC for example) but it more than makes up for it with the community. The forums here are pretty good, we've got our fair share of jerks but you get that everywhere. Participating in the Clan system is really good fun too, i've got to know everyone in my Clan pretty well and we all get along nicely. It is this aspect of the site that i like the most, there are hundreds of places to play chess on the Net but I haven't come across one which has such a good community. I often log on for hours without playing chess at all, it's a fun place to hang out. I consider the subscription fee to be nominal when i consider the amount of leisure time I get out of this site. You'll be hard pressed to find so much value for money anywhere, If i'm a bit skint and can't afford to go out i hang out with my friends here. The sub is about the same as a round of drinks in the pub but it lasts a year. 🙂

I promiced to become a born again christian if someone paid my sub. Once I got it paid I burned down the church, therefore, I didn't break my word. Someone mentioned there are other churches, and I mentioned there are other places that can catch fire. I can't wait to join something else.

I'd advise you NOT to pay for a subscription to this site. Once they have your money nobody cares about you anymore. RHP has a Terms of Service which states: (c) You may not threaten or harass other users of this Service.

But in actual practice the forum moderators are not held accountable for their actions. In fact, if you get on one of RHP's forum moderator's bad side he will contribute to the abuse against you. Here's a prime example:

Thread 71218

This thread, "Michigan Fatso Loves To Make Ass Of Self" is in direct
violation of the Terms of Service, but instead of the forum moderators deleting it and telling the poster(s) not to abuse the TOS, they actually make posts which encourage more abuse.

This will all be in my updated article about 'Chess on the internet'. I'll make sure Russ gets a copy.

Well someone's got a string hanging...

BTW: You should get a forum ban for libel.

Funnily enough, i can't see any Moderator posting in that thread. Arrakis never lets the truth get in the way of a good yarn, so what else can we expect.

Maybe we should get him booted for telling people not to subscribe, i mean...that's nearly as bad as saying the site is going to shut down 😲
