I am terrible at recognising faces, so I found this test interesting to take. As expected, I didn't do very well on the face recognition test (16th percentile), although I expected to do even worse. I think I wouldn't have had a chance if the faces had been shown from slightly different angles or with a different facial expression. Also as expected, I did well on the name test, getting only one of the wrong. But what surprised me most was that I also did very well (something above 90th percentile) on the first test where you have to remember different pairs of glasses. I wonder if playing chess may have helped me to improve my visual memory?

Face Recognition Memory
In the face recognition test, you were asked to learn the faces of 10 women. When you were tested on these faces, you had to indicate whether a face on the screen was one you learned or one that you hadn't seen before.
Out of 20 familiar faces, you correctly responded that you had seen 16 faces before.
Out of 30 unfamiliar faces, you correctly responded that you had NOT seen 30 faces before.
Overall, you got 92% correct! The average score on this test is 85% correct. Your percentile rank on this test was 80.

I seemed to recognise the faces mostly by the degree and type of asymmetry, and sometimes the facial expression. Otherwise they all pretty much looked the same to me.

The glasses felt the hardest and was also the one I did the worst on (65th percentile).

I got only one wrong for the glasses - and that was a miss-key!
For the faces I got 17 / 20 for the familiar and 29 / 30 for the unfamiliar. 75th percentile.
By comparison I was rubbish at the names - 9/12 putting me at the 48th percentile.
I wonder what would happen if you had to remember name / face pairs and pick out the correct pairings.
That was interesting Nords.
Face recognition was 88% for a percentile rank of 60. I thought I would do much worse.
Object recognition was 96% for an 86. I surprized myself there.
Verbal recognition was 75% for a 48 percentile rank. I surprized myself there too as I thought I would do better.
Neat site. Thanks.
