Yeah right, I'm surprised the lunatic has held on this long. I for one won't miss him for anything other than being the founder of a band which exceeded his initial ramblings and went on to be better without him, before turning sh;t and disbanding.
That's a little harsh. Who knows how Pink Floyd would have developed had Syd's early promise been allowed to mature? Certainly there are flashes of brilliance in his solo albums.

An Effervescing Elephant
with tiny eyes and great big trunk
once whispered to the tiny ear
the ear of one inferior
that by next June he'd die, oh yeah!
because the tiger would roam.
The little one said: "Oh my goodness I must stay at home!
and every time I hear a growl
I'll know the tiger's on the prowl
and I'll be really safe, you know
the elephant he told me so."
Everyone was nervy, oh yeah!
and the message was spread
to zebra, mongoose, and the dirty hippopotamus
who wallowed in the mud and chewed
his spicy hippo-plankton food
and tended to ignore the word
preferring to survey a herd
of stupid water bison, oh yeah!
And all the jungle took fright,
and ran around for all the day and the night
but all in vain, because, you see,
the tiger came and said: "Who me?!
You know, I wouldn't hurt not one of you.
I'd much prefer something to chew
and you're all to scant." oh yeah!
He ate the Elephant

Actually it's not a bad album at all.
Keep Talking is very good.

You are obviously not a Pink Floyd fan.

No, you obviously are not a Pink Floyd fan, or you wouldn't say such stupid things. The Division Bell is NOT a Pink Floyd album. It is a David Gilmour album masquerading under the Pink Floyd name. If you were the Pink Floyd fan you claim to be, you'd know that The Final Cut was the last Pink Floyd album. Or The Wall, if you want to play tit for tat and count The Final Cut as a Roger Waters solo album. So take your Division Bell swill and be gone with you. Profane this Syd Barrett thread with your heresies no longer.

Division Bell. Bah!

Answer the following question: Is 'More' a fantastic album?

If your answer is 'yes', then there's hope for you.

"The Madcap Laughs" makes for interesting listening, with a partially documentary quality. The song that contains the line "I'm thinking"...Any agreement for Julian Cope as a latter-day Syd Barrett (with better follow-through)?

The Division Bell and the Final Cut should be released as a double album by "Pink Floyd" as an ironic answer to the question posed in "Have a Cigar".

Were there any "hit" songs? I never saw any videos on MTV. Must not have been very good.
