Floating down through the clouds
Memories come rushing up to meet me now.
In the space between the heavens
and in the corner of some foreign field
I had a dream.
I had a dream.
Good-bye Max.
Good-bye Ma.
After the service when you're walking slowly to the car
And the silver in her hair shines in the cold November air
You hear the tolling bell
And touch the silk in your lapel
And as the tear drops rise to meet the comfort of the band
You take her frail hand
And hold on to the dream.

They must be coooooooool
Yep, comfortably numb.

ringnut thinks only people who like what he likes could possibly like pink floyd. I happen to like most of their albums, and some of Waters too.

Your own words comdemn you.
I mostly like the ambient stuff on there, truth be told.
It might not be bona fide Floyd but I still like it!

No, you obviously are not a Pink Floyd fan, or you wouldn't say such stupid things. The Division Bell is NOT a Pink Floyd album. It is a David Gilmour album masquerading under the Pink Floyd name. If you were the Pink Floyd fan you claim to be, you'd know that The Final Cut was the last Pink Floyd album. Or The Wall, if you want ...[text shortened]... ith you. Profane this Syd Barrett thread with your heresies no longer.

Division Bell. Bah!
if your gonna be pedantic about it then why not just say that "piper..." was the only true PF album because syd was the real talent to begin with (he only played on parts of "saucer..." ) 😕

personally i dont have a problem with "d-bell" and i do count myself as a 'real fan'. I have been listening to floyd for well over 20 years, ok, not as long as they have been around but i was brought up on it and still have hundreds of PF tracks in my music and video collection (all studio released albums and much much more), as well as all of gilmour and waters solo albums.

i even built a website devoted to syd and his music for a college course (it was a few years ago but its still out there getting hits). i suppose now is the time to give it an update because its just sat there looking crap for years.... anyway im side tracking ...

all in all i think "d-bell" is not a bad effort. maybe to some its not as good as the early stuff but their sound has always had to evolve or they would have been finished decades ago - just look at the difference from "more" or "atom heart" to "the wall" or "wish you were here", all are great floyd albums from before waters left but they sound dramatically different in content and style. this has to happen for any band to continue.

sorry, obviously the little wink at the end wasn't clear enough to show i was just messing with ya. i understood that it was sarcasm but wanted to play on it for my real reason to reply (which is still valid)...

... if we never mention it again it will maybe be totally forgotten about and go away ... forever ... into a black-hole or something

[edit: i didnt mind the doofus thing 😉 ]

I saw a documentory about floyd. It seems that the majority of their songs were about Sid.

You can say what you want about their music when he was a member but he was still a member of the band spiritually.

Division Bell would have made a fine David Gilmour solo album, but as a Floyd album it's crap. End of story.

Exactly, if you don't change your style over the course of 35 years and a dozen or so albums then you may as well call yourself "The Rolling Stones".
