not true - yes there are quite a few (i.e. most of the "Wish you were here" album) but certainly not a majority of their songs.

You could also argue that Piper At the Gates of Dawn is not a Pink Floyd album, but a Syd Barrett solo album.

Anyway, here's hoping the BBC will repeat the documentary on him that they produced a few years ago.

What a ridiculous statement; either you like the sound or you don't whoever it is. 🙄

I don't think he said it was terrible as a stand-alone album. Just doesn't really fit in nicely with the rest of thier body of work.

"blah blah fine......blah blah it's crap" is what he said.
How can it be fine and crap?

In other words, if you listen to some thing and you didn't know who it was, it would be crap. But when you discover it's by someone you like, it becomes good.

I think that the first track of the album proves that Dave didn't think it was worth doing either.

I just think that it's crap. Full stop.
All in all, I think what they were trying to say, was that it didn't live up to their expectations. I for one, was eagerly awaiting a new masterpiece in the Floyd's catalogue of excellence, and was sorely disappointed.

I reckon that many fans are just unhappy about Roger Waters not being there, regardless of the sound. You'd think they would have got used to it by now.

ANYWAY!!

This thread is supposed ot be about Syd not bloody "d-bell"

So ... What solo stuff of Syd's do you enjoy? if not full album then single song will do.

"Madcap" is probably on of my favourites but this changes with time

When i was 18, me , my brother, and my mate used to sit with guitars and bass in hand, trying to be like pink floyd. This usually meant getting stoned and thinking any old crap was inter-stellar overdrive.
Once we sobered up and realised there was more to it that "i know the bassline", we changed to Motorhead 🙂
We still played fearless at the gigs, but thats cause it was the only song we all knew (not a sid song, i know).

If sid aint in heaven, i aint goin.

Never bought his solo albums?
Is it similar to the stuff he wrote for Floyd?

More similar in genre to 'Bike' I would say. But that would be a big generalisation. He wrote in a few styles. From tuneful and melodic little ditties with catchy lyrics, to the absolute extremes of psychadelia and madness. I think you can definatley hear him slowly losing it. 🙁
