Were [insert swear word here] amazing last night. Anyone else go to see them? Best concert I've been to.

Everything from audience participation to willowy, ethereal girl-fronted support band (with whom I am now deeply in love).

EDIT: This doesn't do it justice, but it's hard to put into words. I guess you had to be there 😞

What was it you were saying about moving to America because of the awful state of UK music again? πŸ˜‰

That's a bold statement. You sure about that? I recently jumped on the bandwagon and downloaded their album, despite the fact that it's being sold in Starbucks now. Very good, I have to admit.

I'm sure. I left the concert feeling refreshed, special, proud and inspired. I've not seen a band with such a depth of emotion, lyric-smithery, musicianmanship, intelligent humour and fun, coupled with a sense that they didn't take themselves too seriously and that they were really happy to have you there . They were clearly enjoying being able to play to you as much as you were able to listen. All kids starting up bands should be made to go to a Decemberists concert to understand what subtlety, expression, performance and damn decent music is.

Kind of funny how some bands are able to establish that "relationship with the audience" thing and some aren't. I've seen a few bands that really had that down. It's a pretty unique talent.

Yeah. Not only did they come down into the audience under the direction of the singer and do a 2 minute history of the American Civil War (drafting audience members to play parts), but they also got people from the audience up on stage as backing singers for the final song.
