The General Forum is like vintage clothes shopping. You have to sift through a lot of crap and worthless stuff before you find the gem. Like going through an entire rack of sweatstained beer league baseball t-shirts before you find a 3/4 sleeve RATT shirt with the original silver lettering.
There are a lot of great posters who post throughout all the forums and there are a lot of good posters who stick to debates and spirituality, but to say the entire general forum is crap is nonsense. You just gotta find the posters you like and leave the rest to rot on the racks forever.
Personally, I like to come in here and just shoot the breeze and crack a joke without having to get into an in-depth discussion with Joe Blowhard over who-knows-what...

Has anybody else noticed the lack of substance in this forum lately? I mean, if we're not talking about Bowmann, we're talking about how we don't want to be talking about Bowmann. Thought to ponder Shan, I think most people, including I, just want to be heard. The more they post, the more is espoused to the general public, or "audience" if you will. "All the world is a stage and we are merely players" holds more truth than I could imagine.
I do get a kick out of some of the humor laid out here, (yours has been fun) and occasionally you get great info like a good book reference by Ragnorak. Hope I spelled it properly. [Eteach gets off soap box], See, my own paltry attempt at being, "most popular poster" LOL. I would love to interact more with my fellow chess maniacs because they do tend to be more of the "thinking person type" or as we called them in high school, nerds, but holding down 3 jobs don't leave alot of time to post. If my Stuff, isn't up to standards, just blame it on an oppressive boss.

The General Forum has never been interesting,that's why you'll find good posters and debaters only in the Debates forum,they never come here because there's nothing but drivel.
