We're not as shallow as we seem.
See, what we're supposed to find attractive (without the brainwashing of the media) instinctively is a healthy specimen. Someone who will be healthy enough to have lots of babies for us. So, one of the things that signifies a healthy specimen is symmetry of face (dunno why? ), not being obese, being fit, clear skin, ...[text shortened]... on of the species than females. Which means that we're much more selfless than females.

I think it's because asymmetry can be a sign of a hereditary defect. Incidentally, I prefer faces which clearly deviate from the "norm" in some way (including, but not limited to asymmetry). That may have to do with my face-blindness (difficulty to recognize faces) - unusual faces are much easier to remember. All those supposedly good-looking celebrities look alike (and therefore boring) to me.
So to make my point, we're not being shallow at all. We're just more concerned with the continuation of the species than females. Which means that we're much more selfless than females.
Well, all you described above about instinctively finding a healthy specimen goes for females as well, so... Of course there are some selfish people like me who are born without those instincts and who are not interested in contributing to the continuation of the species (at least not by reproducing). 🙂

Some girls get off on men who are pigs. Some girls like it when you are a pig to only them. Some girls don't like piggish behaviour at all. Safe to say though, all girls like to feel sexy.
And that's why this thread is crap. Everybody is different and there is no set way of getting a girl. Just make her laugh, look good and be sure to get her off before you finish up.

Quite frequently, I have seen this theme in many threads....
Very frequently it is men answering the query. Some, like Shav do a good job, others are obviously clueless.
I though it was time for the girls to weigh in on the topic.
Go rent Don Juan de Marco(Johnny Dep, Marlon Brando, Faye Dunaway). I know this is a chick flick and it will be not the fi ...[text shortened]... ...You will learn a lot.

It's a tribute to the great lovers of our history, byron, don jaun, people who just loved women. And I don't mean just sexually, they prefferred the company of women. It was his love that he shared with his Doctor, that allowed that doctor to remember why he had married his wife in the first place. He showed him the innoncence of pure love again. This is a film about love on a scale beyond our petty physical outlook.
I totally agree everyone should watch it at least once.

I haven't seen that movie (and from your descriptions I don't get a feeling that I have missed something), but since you mention Don Juan, I just have to mention Max Frisch's play "Don Juan or the Love of Geometry", especially since this is a chess site. It's a comedy which portrays Don Juan as a man who cares much more about geometry and chess than about women. His problem is that the women find him extremely attractive, and his desinterest just makes them more insistant. So in the end he stages his death in order to get rid of all those women, although he needs the help of one of them, whom he marries and gets a child with in the end. I really enjoyed reading that play. If Frisch is right, I guess the best technique for you guys who want to attract girls is to go on playing chess and pretending you are not interested in girls. Not sure whether that works, though... 😉

Don't look at magazines/read books/listen to the radio and I don't have a tv in my house. And where I live there are no advertisements besides the ones I see in my house from my sister's business. So avoiding the media is by no means difficult and is generally benficial.

And if someone is concerned with the continuation of the species they are not being selfless at all, moreover there is no reason to be concerned. If there was a risk of human extinction, why would anyone care? Who cares if more people live after them or not? In fact currently there is a problem on earth with over-population. Anyone who is concerned with the continuation of the species and has babies is being selfish and doing the society a disservice.

Of course, cute is a factor but it is not the most important.....
Cute and a jerk means any girl worth having is heading the other direction....
But, cute is not everything. A guy who treats you as if you are wonderful is amazingly sexy....

I love this; basically what some women do is "try to let you down lightly" if you don't look like a Hollywood idol and suggest you "try to be more romantic" instead of just running away in disgust.
This does two things: Makes the man feel like he is missing a lightbulb as far as the opposite sex goes, because he doesn't have the supposed "romantic knowledge" that the film star does (which she really likes for his looks, the idol could read the phone book to her and she would think that's swell) without actually offending him and simultaneously giving him false hope in case of point two; endears the man to her for being "kind", just in case he wins the lottery or something and becomes useful to her.
Women are every bit as shallow as men.

I like it for all the reasons you stated. I think both men and women would like to be loved for who they are and be celebrated for it....
