Suzianne, do you really disapprove of dear, erudite Mathurine
who apparently took seriously ill and highly individualistic Bowmann
or are they simply too olde for the Boston Lad known as gb ¿

Yes, actually as it turned out one puff did. I smoked for years and quit twice, both times for 2 years. One day at work someone offered me one I said no then changed my mind. I took a puff and coughed saying why did I ever smoke and buuted it out. A minute later I asked for another and smoked for another 4 years, quitting for good about 26 years ago.

Mathurine was sweet.

Bowmann was as insufferably misogynistic as they come.

Good for you. It's rumored that tobacco is perhaps the toughest addiction to break. One of the best incentives to quit, though, is today's sky-high prices.

Curiously, Mathurine often quoted Euripides and other Ancient Tragedians
in her Self Proclaimed Title and as sententious taglines to her sometimes
inscrutable posts. Bowmann, I like; I cherish the memory of Lady Mathurine.

I always set price limits as my insentive to quit. When I started smoking (my own not my mothers) they were $0.28/ pack of 20. I said I'd quit when they hid $0.50 and so on but with each increase my limit was extended. The way I finally quit (I think they'd gone to $1.75/pack of 25) was to announce to my staff that "this is my last pack, then this is my last cigarette and finally this is my last puff". And that was it. Haven't smoked since then. Oh wait there was a cigar about 3 years ago in Cuba but I didn't inhale and as I remember it took all day to smoke it. I'd take a puff or two then stick it back in it's metal container till I fancied another couple of puffs and so on.

Bowmann's frequently seen signature:

Save it, Mike; it's quite rare, already an RHP Collector's Item
or kkeepsake (if you're him). Blokke loved lower case 'k's.

All of his recs must've come from fanbois like you, then.

Your statement describes his "cult of personality" quite well. As much as people were driven to him mainly by what other people (most of whom knew nothing about him) said about him, he never said much of anything about himself. Well, I'm here to tell you he was a seven-letter word, starting with Ass, with a capital A. You figure it out. You even have a couple of choices, all of which apply.

😞

"... he never said much of anything about himself."

Interesting public behaviour for one immersed within a "cult of personality". Hmm... wonder why. lo¿

Let's just say that while a large percentage of males here feel that he was an "alright chap" based on his 'public persona', most females here who had any PMs or private conversations with him would agree that he was a creep, not above taking any advantage he could over women, including blackmail. Enough said.

If your hearsay is factual, I'm shocked.
