The Halloween Limerick Competition

The ghoul of the school was unseen
On tonight of all nights, Halloween
He's tucked up in bed
With the flu (so he said)
Oh what strange times these are indeed!

They yelled at my door "trick or treat?"
so I gave them a bucket of meat.
They screamed, "that's disgusting!"
"Serves you right," I said, "for being so trusting,
now scram the lesson's complete."

the night was spooky and eldritch
i shivered as i hid in the ditch
"she ain't gonna get me"
my bravado a useless plea
doomed by the shadow of the witch
