so you've spent over 10 years in a muslim country and dont know anything about muslims or their religion !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I remember in Bangkok bumping into an american that was there for 25 years and still didnt talk a word of thai.
I guess you see what you want to see...
To coin a phase that seems to me to be apt "Religion is the source all evil".
More wars are caused in this world over religion than anything else. Religion, by definition, is therefore evil!
I will tolerate Muslims and Christians when they practise peace but until then they remain the voice of the devil.

People use Religion for power - they couldnt care less about what the books said
I'll say they have been more killing for Power and money than anything whatever the coat of paint was put on it

To the best of my knowledge never the Bible nor the Koran advocate violence as a means to solve the worlds ills. I believe both advocate peace understanding and tolerance.
Jesus was a great man. Mohammed was a great man. (prophet or son of god if you prefer on either or both) - neither were evil.
The evil I talk about is not the evil within their teaching per se but within the hearts of men who choose to interpret those teachings towards their wicked ends.
Man has multilated and abused religion for personal power and continues to do so.
Well we agree. Then what did you write

Why not have said that a lot of people preach hatred using any religion. That would have been a big difference

I have many Catholic, Protestant and Muslim friends and I find them all perfectly decent honorable human beings. The only difference with my Muslim friends when they come to visit is that they have a coke not a beer. Doesn't bother me as I don't drink!
Trouble is it seems to be Muslims that preach the hatred against the west and practice terrorism striking at civilians in our countries. I was in the WTC virtually 12 months to the day before those planes struck. I am very aware that it could have been me trapped in there and I have done nothing to Islam.
Don't blame us for Palastine and the Jewish issue. That is a problem - I do not agree with the Jews but I do not agree the Muslim respose is correct either. Peace is needed in the Middle East. The Jews and the Palastinians have a right to their own home and state but those problems will not be solved without us all working together and it is an inadequate eexcuse to preach terror.
And you could have been in Lebanon and havent done nothing to israel and still die, or in Afganistan, not having done anything to americans and still die.
I think if you turn off the news and just hang out with your muslims friends all that feeling will disapear and when you will hear somebody hooked to the news saying how muslims are bad, you will just laugh.
If you watch the news in occident Muslims are everywhere with knives to kill us all, and probably everywhere else it's the same with the bad americans.
So just turn off the news, have a boiling tea with mint - instead of coke - while listening to Rabbi abou khalil and eating those sugary cookies. You'll get fat - for sure - but won't fall into the traps of media
For the complete original speach, see www.bbc.co.uk
Choose "International Version".
Then click "Pope reacts to row: Full text", which can be found in the "News" pane just below the "International Version" button.
Then, at the top of the right hand column, you'll see a heading "BENEDICT XVI'S PAPACY".
Click on "Key Excerpts: Pope's speech" under that heading.
About half way down, under the heading "ON HOLY WAR", you'll find a box headed "READ THE WHOLE SPEACH".
"Download the reader here" if you need to, but otherwise, just right click on the "Read the Pope's entire speach", and "Save Target As..."
You will then have a copy of the entire speach as an Adobe file.
Please spread as widely as possible.
I notice that, way back at the "International version" stage, there is a pane headed "News in 33 languages".
Quite frankly, the speech needs deep concentration to understand in English.
I don't know if any of the "News in 33 languages" links would lead to a translation.
I hope that those with any contacts THAT MIGHT LEAD TO accurate translation and circulation of the speech, would circulate the information that leads to the original text.

I am not a Catholic and I don't care what the Pope said. I also couldn't give a hoot what Jesus or Mohamed said or didn't say. I have a right to call Bush and Blair a tosser and war mongers and I have an obligation to vote them out of office at the next available chance (actually I didn't vote them in in the first place but I accept the democratic views ...[text shortened]... find their Mosques blown up and their worshipers killed. As they sow so they shall reap!
Two more years and we need suffer the fool no longer.

What's with this fool calling the teachings of Mohammed evil.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." Nice going Pope.
Originally posted by AThousandYoungsure, but there is the separate question of whether the holy texts of a religion endorse spreading the faith by the sword. if they don't, and people do it anyway, then it looks like the religion is being distorted. if they do, then it is harder to make this claim.
Spreading a religion by the sword is not new.

Everyone can see the Pope is the evil doer. pah!
Also, I seem to remember Muslims waving placards around calling for beheadings and war against non-Muslims. Isn't that more inflamatory?
They should practice what they preach.
