What's with this fool calling the teachings of Mohammed evil.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." Nice going Pope.

On the flip side of the coin, what's so new and great about christianity? What has that offered other than a false hope and a bible to hide ones transgressions behind?

Why was he doing that, precisely?

Have you read transcripts of the pope's speach, or are you just jumping on the bandwagon with your eyes closed ?

The best that I can tell is that he was trying to open up a dialogue.

I am not a Catholic and I don't care what the Pope said. I also couldn't give a hoot what Jesus or Mohamed said or didn't say. I have a right to call Bush and Blair a tosser and war mongers and I have an obligation to vote them out of office at the next available chance (actually I didn't vote them in in the first place but I accept the democratic views of the majority).

I also have a right to criticise the Pope, Jesus and Mohamed and I have a right to disagree with Christians and Muslims should I choose to do so. Not only is that right given to me by the democracy in which we live but it is a God given right.

It is time Islam started living in the 21st centuary and accepted criticisim of their religion with good grace instead of constantly preaching hatred and jihad against anyone who disagrees with them. The Catholic church used to behave in that way, with the Inquisition in the Middle Ages. Fortunately that time is behind us now and it is time also for Islam to move on.

I never used to care about Islam and until 9/11 didn't know much about it and did not want to know but the hatred the Islamic world preaches has slowly turned me against this "evil" religion. Islam needs to change and change fast or the jihad they seek and the wraith of god will come down on them with a vengence.

The Pope did not say what he is alledged to have said by Muslims. Once again they have taken remarks out of context to support their evil views but even if he did say it, so what, he is not a Muslim and he has a God given right to express such views.

I am tired of good men dying because of Muslims. We went into Kuiwait and Bosnia (amoung others) to liberate Muslims. If you want us out of Iraq the best and quickest way is to work towards peace in that country and we will leave pretty soon but even here we have liberated suppressed Muslims. If Islam continues to commit terrorist acts against the western democracies it is only a matter of time before someone decides to retaliate in kind and they find their Mosques blown up and their worshipers killed. As they sow so they shall reap!

A transcript of the pope's remarks obtained by The Associated Press television network reads: "In the seventh (sura, or chapter of the Quran), the emperor comes to speak about jihad, holy war.

"The emperor certainly knew that Sura 2, 256, reads: 'No force in matters of faith'. It is one of the early suras, from a time -- as experts say -- in which Mohammed himself was still powerless and threatened.

"However, the emperor of course also knew the requirements about the holy war that were later formulated in the Quran. Without going into details like the handling of the owners of the scriptures, or non-believers, he (the emperor) turned to his interlocutors -- in a surprisingly brusque way -- with the central question after the relationship between religion and violence.

"He said, I quote, 'Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.'"

That is from CNN. I don't have an AP account so i haven't had a chance to read the entire speach. There can't be any doubt that it is at least incindiary.

I see there is already a lengthy discourse about this in the Debate forum.

So you're admiting talking about something without having a clue about it. So I presume the only infos you got come from the white catholic boys in charge of the news out there.

What do you know then? The inquisition? The Crusade? The colonisation in name of christianity? The acceptance of the Final Solution, the coverups and acceptance for the child abused by priests, or just the way millions of people will die of aids because of the blindness of the church?

Just spend only a month in a muslim country and you'll learn a lot about tolerance, and how far Islam is from radicalism.

So I can spend a month in Saudi Arabia or Iran and wear slacks and no covering on my head, and be treated well? I can drive a car, chat with male friends, go shopping, etc.? Hmm, must be an awful lot of mean old people out there lying and doctoring photos.

Can you name these *white catholic boys* who are in charge of the news? Because really, I've never seen a news person mention his or her religion or lack thereof. I also noticed a number of news people who don't look like they're white, or don't look like they're male, or both. Must be trick photography.

People wearing around their neck a bloddy man still nailed to a cross?

Hello?

Like Billy hicks used to say: what do you think is the last think jesus ever want to see if he ever come back to earth? Its like JFK fans weraing necklace with a riffle on it.

Just portrayting jesus as a caucasian man is disrespectful enough as a start.

Stop watching TV, go there!
