That's quite an anti-American rant, wormwood. You might realize that such traits are a feature of the vast majority of societies after the media advent.
People tend to care disproportionally about what happens near to where they live. I find this perfectly normal, as I do exactly the same thing.
we have absolutely no influence from russia in the daily media, regardless of that we share over 1000km of border with them, but something like 50% of our tv is american. or 90% of series. I think it's pretty weird. looks like we care disproportionally more about what happens on the other side of the planet than locally.

Actually, hearing about this story for the first time about 3 hours after it happened I thought the same of it as most tragedies... Terrible! I wouldn't joke about it.
I think I also explained these feelings in the thread about 911 where people want to joke about it. I explained how tragic I believe A-bombs dropped was... it doesn't need to be local ...[text shortened]... e over the other.
Hope you follow that, if not I'll try and clearify my thoughts.

Frankly, it matters not at all to me where these things occur only that they occurred and had a devestating affect on the people involved.

I once went to a seminar sponsored by Franklin Cover planners - here is how they recommend making your lists.
Each items is prioritiezed twice. You have all most most important things first (of course) but then prioritized within that catagory: i.e. 1a wake up
1b fart
1c judge quality of said act and base that on todays outlook
2a Drink really strong coffee
2b move toward bathroom
etc etc.
But it seems it would take so long to be that elaborate - you would have time for the items themselves. Plus how do you really decide how one thing is more important than the other?
Thesis: making list is positive not because it helps you remember the items, but because of the simple satiisfaction of checking it off the list.
The first and only item on my list today was to make some posts on RHP when I was supposed to be working. I can now check that off, feel good about myself and go to lunch.
Mental is no laughing matter. Based on RN's history here, I believe he is suffering from paranoia types 1, 2, 4 and possibly 6*.
Given his fixation on victims of mass murders and the hostility and incitement to harm demonstrated in a recent post**, I fear the result of his apparent continuing downward spiral.
