I'm afraid I have to agree. I've been to the US a dozen times, but this summer I am not looking forward to simply changing planes in the US on the way through because of the way customs/immigration treats people.
At least I'm not my flatmate - 26, single, muslim, male, has been to Pakistan 3 times in the past 18 months - who flew into the US for the first time (to meet his sister) last month. We were having bets whether we'd next see him on TV wearing orange pyjamas on a small island somewhere.

From natural wonders (rocky mountains, giant redwoods, the grand canyone, etc), to crazy entertainment (Las Vegas, New York, Disneyland, etc.) I will never go back to the States, but I don't advise others not to visit. I just warn them about the "war on tourism" (obviously I never thought those words for it) and tell them to have fun.
Why anyone would actually willingly go to the USA for a vacation is beyond me.
Oh yeah... then I warn them not to move there no matter how much they might like their vacation.
Edit - Yeah, too bad about New Orleans - I never got around to going there.

hilarious.
Two friends of mine live in the US (I don't have a clue where though, although I know one of them's orginally from California) and they keep asking me to pop over and visit them.
I keep telling them I'll come once they've changed regime...
