I have seen dolphins playing on the bow wave of a sailboat.
I have seen the green flash at sunset.
I have seen a blood moon and a blue moon.
I have seen the slums of Haiti, where life is poor, nasty, brutish, and short — where children laugh and play amid rubbish and sewerage.

Some people think it’s an optical illusion, but it’s not. It’s real. There is a red flash as well, but this is even rarer; I’ve not seen it.
I've seen the Piazza di San Marco empty, except for myself, at 0600.
I'd engaged in an unexpected and pleasurable tryst during Carnevale. It was freezing cold and dark. But I found my way soon after coming into the Square. That moment, as a solitary walk in history, will be forever etched in mind.
I was fortunate that the Carabinieri were patrolling elsewhere.
It was a very lucky day, indeed!
