I used to like Orcshammer, but they are sooooo yesterday.
They have the dragon-slaying amulets but they lack the TECHNICAL ABILITY, you see...
Those s'n's-m'p'm stadium bands are just commercial sellouts - in gaining their technical ability they've lost all trace of the roots of s'n's-m'p'm.

Clownsreich's last gig was in front of an orc army of 250,000 beneath the tower of Saruman. And they loved my guitar solo.

That's the sort of answer I expected from you Starrman ... Narrow minded to the max ...
Orcs ???
Bands like Metallica, Maiden etc. have had gigs with 250,000+ people attending, even bands like Nightwish or Dragonforce play major concerts (but surely all of those people going to those concerts are orcs ... Great argument Starrman !!!)
...[text shortened]... ack about Music, that's for sure ... Now go and play blink blink with your friends again !!

If they were any more of a cliche I'd be forced to eat my own hands to stop myself from typing expletives.
Wow, power metal! That conjures up all sorts of wonderful images; Power and metal! I can barely contain my joy! I bet you get hard just thinking about them, the homoerotic imigary must drive you wild. Ooh! And the concerts! All those men in tight black t-shirts, the smell of sweat, I'm surpirsed you can hold on for a whole performance.
I fail to see what having an open mind to all genres can do for one as a musician. In fact I'd go so far as to say that if people had a little more discernment towards music, then we wouldn't be plagued with the likes of power metal or it's bedfellows; teenage pop and happy house. Power metal is a curse on music, and one perpertrated by dimwits and self-obsessed closet homosexuals at that.
And this isn't about my band either. My band is a hobby, nothing more. Now I'm guessing that there's music you don't like, unless you really are a sponge, I wonder if any band you could pull together would be as succesful as any of them? No? Well, perhaps you should hold onto that idea, you know, the one where people get the right to their own say. And in case you need some assistance, that's the opposite of the gestapo's view. Just bringing it home for you, make it a bit easier for you to understand.
Now do you want me to take my gloves off for the next round or are you still warming up, honey bunch?

Rather then bringing arguments in your post you have attempted (like everyone else) to humor and sarcasm - Not particular strong in a discussion about Music ... Why would I even want to discuss things with you, you obviously
a) don't have a great knowledge about Music
b) don't care a great deal about it (otherwise you would have brought some arguments)
c) you rather rip the mick out of me then discussing the thread topic
In a nutshell, you ain't worth my time on that topic, I rather discuss Music with poeple who know and appreciate it.
Boris
PS: Here is another amazon review for you (and people who might have an interest in Music) by a professional Musician ...
Possibly the greatest metal album EVER,
February 8, 2006
Reviewer: David V. Stewart "Professional Musician" (Fresno, CA USA) -
I was a huge fan of this band's previous two albums, and they have really outdone themselves (and every other band on the planet) with thier third outing. Every facet of this recording is absolutely top notch. The vocals are agressive, in tune, and very expressive, and the drums are, while blazingly fast, also very creative and rythmically acurate. The guitarists (if you've never heard this band before) are quite simply the best out there today.
If you've never heard dragonforce before, you're in for a shock. They are basically the fastest band on the planet. They are as fast as any black metal band you've ever heard (Naglfar, Dimmu borgir, etc.), but tighter rythmically, and extremely melodic and bright (They often play in major keys).
This record leaves out some of the foolish fun things present in thier previous albums (these were not neciessarily bad elements), in favor of more expressive and even more epic lyrics and song arrangements. The keyboard player seems to finally come into his own in the band, contributing more to this album than any other member.
Give this band a chance! Don't be a naysayer who won't open their mind to any new music. This is possibly the greatest metal album of all time and you should deffinitely buy it!! Believe me, I've heard it all and thlis is the best!!!!

If there is a form of music you don't like then its easy enough to just ignore it, don't start typing in threads about it, don't go on there websites and look up pictures of them. I don't like pop music so I don't go on pop music websites, look up pictures of them, listen to it. An open mind isn't essential you get all kinds of people some who like most music some very specific. The existence of dragonforce must mean that some people like them even if you don't leave them to it.
I personally don't think much of dragonforce but if people like them good for them. If they can get enjoyment out of listening to it them I say listen to them.
Originally posted by The Slow PawnLol, you crack me up Boris. You're attempting to say this is a discussion about music? And why do you keep using a capital letter for it? Okay, just so you don't feel too put out, I'll Argue with you About Music. To the rebuttal then:

a) You keep telling yourself that. Perhaps you'd care to provide your own credentials, excluding of course, your supposed background in power metal.
b) You mistake my caring about music for the fun I'm having ridiculing you. It's a bit like creationsists and ID; they're so far off the track that meaningful discourse is pointless, the only course of action is ridicule. Of course it says nothing about your own beliefs, but some people are just so far off that it's like speaking another language.
c) Oh I think I'm on subject still; you put forth a topic, I am discussing how retarded it is.
Wow, a professional musician! You mean people actually get payed to play this tripe? The wonders of the music industry will never cease to amaze me.

What would the criteria be to take part in a 'serious' discussion about music?
Playing in a band beats lots of MP3s?
Went to more live events beats owns a musical instrument?
Listen to iPod beats listen to radio?
I believe once I've heard some of a band's material, I have the right to rip them apart.
Originally posted by CrowleyWhich of course is the crux of the matter and what Boris fails to notice. Music is so subjective that anyone has the right to express any opinons about it. There are no credentials that embue you with a higher stance on it. Certainly you may know the technical aspects of a certain genre better; Nordlys obviously knows more about cello technique than me, for example. But to say someone doesn't have the credentials to offer opinions on a of taste, or that someone knows nothing about music is ridiculous. If you've heard music before, you know enough about it to comment. If you have heard more genres you can comment on more genres, it's that simple.
Interesting.

Music should be about the feelings it produces for you. I try to keep an open mind when hearing a band I've never heard before or when hearing a new song from a band I despise.
The feelings these monkeys produce with me are disgust and a sense of unease.
Thus, they suck.
Originally posted by CrowleyWhat I do not see is why you feel the petty need to complain about them. What is it going to achieve? If you don't like them don't listen to them, don't talk about them. For all intents and purposes ignore them. I don’t think you are going to get any Dragonforce fans to change there minds about them if they like them then let them like them.
