For all intents and purposes ignore them. I don’t think you are going to get any Dragonforce fans to change there minds about them if they like them then let them like them.
If there is a form of music you like then its easy enough to not start typing in threads about it.

Boris posted they're great. We say nay, Bor, they are total crap.

They are both in two people’s eyes.

I don't think they are great. I don't think there album is great. Give me master of puppets or reign in blood any day. I don’t feel the need to complain about Dragonforce because there is nothing to be gained by doing so.

If you have heard more genres you can comment on more genres, it's that simple.
& to try to reduce music, particularly pop/rock/etc, solely to "technical ability" is absurd. It generally goes with a meanness of spirit and smallness of soul which is the OPPOSITE of music.

when did I ever reduce pop or rock ???

Bands/Artists like Alanis Morissette, U2, ABBA, Queen, Vanessa Mae etc. are outstanding in their own genre.

--- --- ---

How to define knowledge/the subject of Music ???

Well for a start, I would not not listen to a band/artist which is recommended by someone else prior to making a judgement (which boils back down to Starrman rather ridiculing me then talking about music) ...

Secondly, I bet any amount of money that if put on a spot vs. Starrman that I'm more knowledgable in almost any genre of Music (With the exception of Trance, Techno and House Music) ... Whether that is in regards to artists/bands, instruments or any other aspect covering the topic ...

Thirdly, the fact that Starrman plays in a band says jack about his knowledge of Music. Being barely capable of strumming a six-string is good enough to be part of a crappy band.

And last but not least, I play an instrument myself

--- --- ---

I am not intending with this list to brag and point my finger and judge, but it is pissing me off that someone like Starrman ridicules a truly outstanding band of which has hasn't even got a clue (other then that they play Power Metal Music) ...

So feel free to rip this post to pieces (couldn't care less) since the vast majority responding to my initial post have been biggots and morons with the single aim of having yet another laugh at my expense rather then an understanding (leave alone an appreciation) of music ...

Regards
Boris

I think the biggest problem facing power metal today is the number of power metal artists who are blatantly selling out for commercial profit. Power metal has become just another pop genre.

Wow! Is it just me or has it come to the state of affairs whereby, people actually search for kudos just by their tastes in music. Isn't music something that people should just listen to if they enjoy it and disregard if it get's on their wick so much?

Anyhow's, I'm downloading the album now. I won't let anyone know if I like it or not for fear of being crucified, but I'm sure as hell my neighbours won't cos their in bed HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oops sorry Robomod. Too many blooming capital letter.

Am I waffling?

EDIT: OMFG 😞

I find it hard to like a band as a whole. I tend to like a select few songs by by various artists. My taste is wide and varied. I can listen to anything from Bob Dylan to Megadeath. A few exceptions to the rule being, i like the majority of music produced by Jimi, Zep and Floyd.

As for dragonforce. Sorry dude. They did absolutely nowt for me. I like rock and metal music but I just didn't think they have any power and crunch behind them. Perhaps they are better live, but the album just sounds like it is over produced. Too many perfectly quantized drum rolls.

You're a clown Boris, a total clown.

Well for a start, I would not not listen to a band/artist which is recommended by someone else prior to making a judgement (which boils back down to Starrman rather ridiculing me then talking about music) ...

It's not the band I'm judging, it's the genre you fool, a genre I have listened to several times before and also a genre that I think does more for surreality than Dali ever did. It's dross, from any form of cultural viewpoint in my opinion, pure dross.

Secondly, I bet any amount of money that if put on a spot vs. Starrman that I'm more knowledgable in almost any genre of Music (With the exception of Trance, Techno and House Music) ... Whether that is in regards to artists/bands, instruments or any other aspect covering the topic...

I'd take that bet, but unlike you, my ego isn't diminished enough to need inflating, get over yourself. Who cares how much knowledge either of us has? It's about taste, and power metal tastes like candyfloss, even though it comes wrapped in black leather and makeup.

Thirdly, the fact that Starrman plays in a band says jack about his knowledge of Music. Being barely capable of strumming a six-string is good enough to be part of a crappy band.

I don't believe I ever did say that, you seem to keep coming back to this as a way of making your ramblings seem supported. Are you trying to make technical ability an issue here? Oh wait, no, you don't reduce to issues of technical ability do you? No...

And last but not least, I play an instrument myself

And then you go and use the complete reverse logic from your previous statement. Come on what is it? Either playing an instrument gives you credentials or it doesn't, you can't have it both ways. Or is TSP so bloody important he gets to make his own rules up?

I am not intending with this list to brag and point my finger and judge, but it is pissing me off that someone like Starrman ridicules a truly outstanding band of which has hasn't even got a clue (other then that they play Power Metal Music) ...

Lol, not intending to brag?! Boris that's all you know how to do! Every thread you take part in highlights that if you were any more full of yourself, you'd reach critical mass.

So feel free to rip this post to pieces (couldn't care less) since the vast majority responding to my initial post have been biggots and morons with the single aim of having yet another laugh at my expense rather then an understanding (leave alone an appreciation) of music ...

Ahh and there we have it, the Slow Pawn's customary sign off, the 'I'm the victim here' piece. Aww, poor Boris, need a tissue do you?

I gave a listen to the recommended band, and I read some of this thread, and I wrote a poem, which I dedicate to Boris. Do you think if I asked nicely, Dragon'sPerm would put it to "music"?

A Hole

Once A hole,
Always A hole,
until filled with stool,
then an A Hole.

Thank you, Mr Crowley. I also penned a poem for you. I wrote this one in crayon.

Colours
I like colours,
of all different tones and hues,
except when they're not white.
Then I hate them
and I like to huck rocks at them.

*Appreciative silence.*

I thank you. I'm sure you'll all appreciate how I very cleverly rhymed "them" with "them". Its a hyper modern approach to poetry, which i'm sure is about to take off in a big way.
