Thomas Hicks is the former chairman of Viasystems, who has now taken over Liverpool football club for roundabout £470 million. Did you know that Viasystems had 2 companies in the North East of England, one based in South Shields and the other in Longbenton near Newcastle-upon-tyne. These 2 companies went bankrupt in 2001 and ripped of hundreds of people for there pensions, whilst throwing hundreds more out of a job with the government having to make redundancy payments. Also Viasystems were able to invest 100 million dollars in starting up a new business in China in the same year. Various unions have tried in vain to get there members money back, also I even think that former U.S. President Bill Clinton was involved at one time to no avail. I find it really amazing that Mr. Hicks is able to buy Liverpool football whilst swindling hundreds out of there pensions, which some people had paid into for nearly 30 years. Some are due £50,000.

Workers who lost jobs at a firm run by one of the new owners of Liverpool Football Club are staging a protest at a club match in Newcastle.
Hundreds of workers in South Shields were made redundant when circuit board firm Viasystems went bust in 2001.
The company was run by Tom Hicks, an American who now co-owns Liverpool FC.
The GMB union is organising a protest at Liverpool's game against Newcastle on Saturday to highlight claims some workers are still owed up to £4m.
Tom Ross, the union's senior organiser, has written to Mr Hicks claiming that the employment contracts of the workers were not honoured, so they had to resort to government handouts.
The Viasystems plant was the subject of a management buyout, but also ran into financial problems, with administrators being brought in last year.
No-one from Liverpool Football Club was available for comment.
