Not sure what you mean by "the old trash talk," or how that supposedly disagrees with my beliefs.
I don't want to assume to know your thoughts, so I'll reserve commenting until you specify.
i'd call this trash talk. now, i have no problem with that as far as it goes, but i don't remember reading much of that kind of thing in the bible, which i guess is where Christians take their lead from, right?

Here's to the Democrats. Who else but the 'big government isn't big enough' party could come up with something as inspiring as the Big Dig?
Now, may the health care reform their ilk wished to foist upon the rest of the country RIP.

This type of speech is only possible with those who have agreed to speak to one another in this manner, or in situations requiring immediate action. Normal use of such language in everyday conversations would be inappropriate and--- as you suggested--- incompatible with normative Christian thinking.
That being said, when you dish it out, be prepared to take it. Otherwise, we would have to stick to the typical rules of engagement... much like GB does on a pretty consistent basis. That his consistency unnerves you is something you'll have to deal with. My irritation factor is more obvious, and maybe easier to handle along similar lines.

so how significant is the result of this election for the USA?
just like we're going to soon get reamed by the credit and banking industry with fees, fees and more fees, not to mention the already outrageous interest rates they charge, are you ready to pay twice as much as you pay now for the same (or worse) health insurance within three years?

of course you shouldn't be considered to be constrained to literally only speaking words that appear in the bible. this is more about a kind of speech which, i suggest, is never to be found in the mouths of Jesus and his apostles.
"This type of speech is only possible with those who have agreed to speak to one another in this manner, or in situations requiring immediate action".
what's your authority for this? is this accepted doctrine of some respectable denomination?
"That being said, when you dish it out, be prepared to take it".
but doesn't Christianity require you to 'turn the other cheek', rather than retaliate? i think real Christian standards of behaviour are incredibly difficult to live up to, so difficult in fact that very very few actually manage to. so don't feel bad that you're not one of the very few.
"Otherwise, we would have to stick to the typical rules of engagement... much like GB does on a pretty consistent basis".
this is just a total myth, and i can only conclude that you haven't been observing the forum long, or that you have an acute case of selective vision. i've heard this myth before, and usually from professed Christians, and i surmise that their motivation derives simply from a desire to protect someone with similar beliefs.
in fact, if you read over GB's posting history, you'll see it is brimming with nasty jabs at people. so please, stop bringing this mythical picture of the poor old duffer soaking it up like a saint, cos it just ain't true. he gets pasted because he is an antisocial prat who has deliberately and knowingly antagonised the forum on a number of occasions, and said openly (as i mentioned earlier) that he enjoys it.

Well, it looks like not enough right-thinking Democrats voted in this election.
If so, it seems a black day for MA and possibly for America.
Teddy's got to be spinning like a gyroscope in the great beyond.

I pay cash. No credit cards.😉 Why would someone borrow money for 'wants' and then choose to pay a ridiculous fee?
The reaming that most folks are receiving is the one they've begged for.

I agree, more thrift on the part of American households is essential to a long term healthy out look. yet it is pie in the sky thinking to believe that most Americans will be able to afford adequite healthcare on an "out-of-pocket" basis. You've been extremely lucky so far, what happens when you (because you are being thrifty) are painting your house and fall off a ladder? Do you have a few million dollars that you can use to pay for the neccessary round the clock care you will need when you're paralyzed from the neck down?

Also, Brown's ads about driving the state in his pickup truck captured the imaginations of democrats thinking he was an "average" joe. And it certainly doesn't help that he's very easy on the eyes... that must've got him more than a few "soccer mom" votes. 😛
Yeah, we have the right-wing-nutjob radio here too. After the voters finally threw J.D. "Crackpot" Hayworth out of Congress, he went back to afternoon talk radio and continued fighting the "dumb" fight.

I paid cash.
The illusion that everyone should be entitled to millions of dollars of medical costs for treatment of any and all conditions at the expense of those who are healthy is perhaps the real pie-in-the-sky.
