You're the only Aussie I've ever heard of who completely lacked a sense of humor. Moronic means "very stupid" and it is stupid to say someone picks their favorite movie because of a critics list; if I went by critics list I wou ...[text shortened]... u. Now go peddle your pretend cultural superiority somewhere else.
second, there's nothing stupid about saying someone picks their favourite movies from critics' lists - some people do, and THAT is moronic. so if the cap fits...
third, you are being disingenuous - look back over the thread and you will see you only criticised CK AFTER my post suggesting you were influenced by critics' lists - exactly what you'd expect from someone who had been found out and wanted to make it look as if he were thinking independently.

Actually, I should apologize: I'm sincerely sorry to idiots everywhere for suggesting your mental capabilities are as high as their's.
Your post is obvious proof that you're the only person in Australia without a sense of humor if you really took the "storm the beaches at Normandy" comment seriously.
as for the Normandy thing, well it could have been true. i don't see any reason why a 78 year old who had stormed the beach at Normandy in 1944 might not be now posting comments here at RHP in 2004 - comments that are no doubt meant to be crushingly insulting, but in fact are rather innocuous and quaint. insults from a bygone, more innocent age as it were.

Why you presumptous greenhorn: I've been watching these newfangled talkies even before I stormed the beach at Normandy! I've got a collection of over 100 great movies I've more than enjoyed (many of them have been mentioned in this thread) and that doesn't even include the porn!
If you can't tell that post is in jest, then you're either: A) Completely and utterly humorless (which is very possible since you found Toiletboy shockingly offensive as a username); B) As intelligent as the average jellyfish; or C) Both. You answer that multiple choice question; "postgraduate studies", my a**!
Originally posted by no1marauderit's just that your greenhorn comments and the rest fits in so well with the mental image i have of you - this lonely bitter old guy - raging impotently at the world, a world that smiles back in a bemused fashion, unable to decide whether pity or amusement or perhaps a combination of the two is the most appropriate response.

as for 'sense of humour' - mate, i have been close to p*ssing myself, i've been laughing so hard at your little rants.

I've already posted two top 10s - let me try for another:
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The Deerhunter
Gattaca
Raging Bull
Sunset Boulevard
Kill Bill vol2 (haven't seen vol 1)
Star Wars
Carlito's Way
Goodfellas
Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels
and yes, Fight Club
All the guys here seem to be listing mafia films and westerns, so why hasn't anyone here mentioned the greatest western of all-time, The Wild Bunch? I had a period of about six months where all I watched was westerns pretty much and I am by far convinced that The Wild Bunch is the best western that will ever be made, hands down!
