I may be late 40s but threads like this are great for checking out new music ideas... lol someone I played against was a (maybe the only) Throbbing Gristle fan I download some and have a few tracks in a playlist.
As for the albums.. great to see some of the music of my childhood, Beatles etc still adored today... Springsteen wrote Blinded by The Light for Manfred Mann in the 60's and he's still churning out albums that make it today.
Which of the albums here will be widely favoured in another 40yrs? Certainly Beatles sgt p/white/revo, Pink Floydd Dkside/Wall, Springsteen River..
How about Dylans new #1 Album "Modern Times".. first #1 in 30yrs for him.. doesn't seem possible that he's 65.

I actually thought about listing 5 tom waits albums. 😀
they would've been:
1. bone machine.
2. frank's wild years
2. black raider
4. rain dogs
3. mule variations

Bone Machine is the first one I got, and still my favourite although I like Blood Money, too.
Originally posted by badmoonyea, well, the older records are good too, but somehow they just don't sound so interesting as the new ones. the piano has been drinking on small change is excellent though. 🙂 I'm more into the crazy experimenting waits than the old man in a young man's body -waits. I guess thats why I like mule variations also, the sounds are just incredible.
If you haven't, go back further. Small Change and Nighthawks at the Diner are great for Waits fans.
When the weather gets rough
And it's whiskey in the shade
It's best to wrap your savior
Up in cellophane
He flows like the big muddy
But that's ok
Pour him over ice cream
For a nice parfait
Well it's got to be a chocolate Jesus
Good enough for me
Got to be a chocolate Jesus
Good enough for me
Well it's got to be a chocolate Jesus
Make me feel good inside
Got to be a chocolate Jesus
Keep me satisfied

It's a cool kind of corny.
The Germanic English of The Model is a hoot. "She's going out to nightclubs drinking just champagne"...My favourite KW song has to be Autobahn, it has me making mouth music.
