I disagree - Abbey Road is a classic!

Slightly disjointed perhaps, but nevertheless, a classic!

Had to exclude Tom Waits. Can't decide, they're all too good.
I actually thought about listing 5 tom waits albums. 😀

they would've been:

1. bone machine.
2. frank's wild years
2. black raider
4. rain dogs
3. mule variations

No particular order:

Nevermind- Nirvana
In Utero- Nirvana
International Superhits- Green Day
In Your Honor (accoustic half)- Foo Fighters
Dookie- Green Day

I only recently started my CD collection, so the list is rather narrow (obviously). On my To Get list are Zeppelin, The Beatles, Blue Oyster Cult, Weezer (the first couple), Audioslave, Nirvana, Ramones, Neil Young, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters among others.

Nomeansno is a band I haven't heard of before this site, so I'll try to pick up one of theirs.

Any suggestions on where to start with some of the bands I listed? Like which Zep/Beatles cd to get first.

Get Ramones by the Ramones. The rest will follow.

Ya, start by not buying the foo fighters or green day cd's. Buy every cd from 1967 to 1973 and then stop until you get to 1991-1994. Then don't bother with anything until you get to Morcheba and Thievery Corporation. Massive Attack will do you nicely too

I've never actually bought a Green Day album. My copy of IS is burned. Foo Fighters I buy because I'm a fan of Grohl and their music isn't bad. But I agree with your timelines, and will probably end up doing something very close to that.
