Can't argue with the first 4. Have them all but Hendrix never appealed to me. Have to replace him with Dire Straits, Queen, Fleetwood Mac or even Moody Blues.

Own all of them but can't agree with them

R.E.M definitely Automatic is one of few albums that every song is a classic
The Chemical Brothers Dig your Own Hole
Faithless Reverence
Massive Attack Blue Lines
Nirvana Nevermind

But if my mood was different it would be a completely different list????

Wha -- no Zeppelin?

R.E.M.'s best album was not Automatic. You have to go as early as Life's Rich Pageant.

EDIT: And Joshua Tree, while a classic of navelgazing, is not among the top 5 albums ever. Again, not even their best.

You could pick a Zeppelin album at random and it would be better than all of these combined.

I would go with:
1: Freyda Epstein, Accoustic Attitude, live at Cabel's
2: John McCutcheon, Water from another time.
3: Pentangle, Maid in Bedlam
4: Bert Jansch, Lucky 13
5: U Utah Phillips, "Good though"

Yes a Zeppelin album could replace Hendrix.

yes, if your mood is different you might actually appreciate different kinds. You might as well try those when you woke up wrong side of bed, or generally feeling down, frustrated and unhappy.

1) If you are feeling sinister / Belle and Sebastian
2) The strange idols pattern and other short stories / Felt
3) Liege and Lief / Fairport Convention
4) Bryter Layter / Nick Drake
5) Let it die / Feist

I'd have a Dylan album - maybe Blood on the Tracks or Desire.
