FUN FUN FUN AUF AUTOBAHN
It's difficult to narrow it down to 5, but if asked to destroy all of my albums but 5, I would choose:
Hunky Dory - David Bowie (ideally I would keep "Scary Monsters" as well).
Angel's Egg - Gong (again, ideally I'd take "You" as well).
Echoes, the Best of Pink Floyd - Pink Floyd (couldn't take just one album, so a best of would have to do. Note: I don't own "Echoes" ).
The Bends - Radiohead (the first album of theirs I got into, although others are nearly as good).
Apostrophe'/Overnite Sensation - Frank Zappa (a cheat, because it's two albums, but they were realeased on one CD).
This isn't really representative of my musical tastes as I like many different types including more modern, electronic stuff and death and black metal.
If I was allowed 3 more I would choose:
Locust Abortion Technician - Butthole Surfers (a classic).
Orb's Adventures in the Ultraworld - The Orb
Black Sabbath (a compilation taken from their first 6 albums).

I would go with:
1: Freyda Epstein, Accoustic Attitude, live at Cabel's
2: John McCutcheon, Water from another time.
3: Pentangle, Maid in Bedlam
4: Bert Jansch, Lucky 13
5: U Utah Phillips, "Good though"

The other side of my brain also has a top 5:
Love's Secret Domain--Coil
All the Pretty Horses--Current 93
How I Loved You--The Angels of Light
Soliloquies for Lilith--Nurse With Wound
Shockheaded Peter--The Tiger Lillies
I would like to add Backworld to the list.

Listen to Freyda Epstein and you will see why I consider her #1.
Totally unknown in most of the world and she got killed in a bizarre murder-suicide, the world lost a star for sure. She taught fiddle was a vocal coach also, she was a grandmaster of both. Bert Jansch made 'Lucky Thirteen' in the early 60's and it is still high on the list of infrappingcredi ...[text shortened]... ong and an incredible guitar opening) and others that would take twenty pages to explore.

I suppose.
What's Backworld?
A new Tom Waits album is on its way...
I like their music because there is a nice mellow feeling in it, that makes me feel sad and happy simultaniously. It may not be your cup of tea though, but you might like it. I don't know. I personally like their album "Of Silver Sleep", but also their is a nice track called "Devil's plaything" in the album called "Album fom Pleasure Park". A present gentle vocal + accoustic guitar you may find.
