Lust for Life--Iggy Pop
Scary Monsters--David Bowie
Your Funeral, My Trial--Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
Children of God--Swans
Rum, Sodomy & the Lash--The Pogues

Had to exclude Tom Waits. Can't decide, they're all too good.

Doolittle is perfect! The Stone Roses are much worse than people think. The Fall are as good as a flotilla of dreadnoughts. Why Funhouse?!

I was lucky enough to see them in 1997. Top act. "Woke up this morning & got myself a gun"--is that from Coldharbour Lane? Are they still going? The last one I have of theirs is La Peste.

"I'm not going to Goa" was the only decent radio song I recall from the summer of '96.

My woman wears a long black veil because I always walk the line...

Good song! Thanks.

The Stone Roses is evocative of a particular time in life which is why it always makes my best list. Funhouse is one of those albums that opened my ears and took me away from my childish favourites. I could easily replace it with Infected by The The or a few others.

I understand. You must be 30-35...I'd put Screamadelica down for that.

The best albums are always the ones that never fail to teleport you to another time and place.

Sadly very nearly at the upper limit of that age bracket 🙁

Screamadelica is another that comes close for me too

Funeral - Arcade Fire
Willy's Wheels - Bubba
Honey - Blind Melon
Ten - Pearl Jam
Hot Rats - Frank Zappa
