you need to read my idea more carefully. keep your blasted rec system as it is now, I want to have fun with a scoreboard.
I disagree with your opinion. I think the Wrecked system was a score board and that it was done away with because it was a scoreboard and that the last thing we need is to replace it with a new score board.
Russ obviously felt, like so many of us, that the wreck system led to all sorts of wreck abuse. Rec-hunting for the sheer purpose of accumulating more wrecks than other users wasn't working.

With so many opinions on this matter, maybe we should have a vote on what to do about the rec system. I think my idea would work well if a smarter person added their touch to it. I think these decisions were almost forced and made to hastily
I don't know if this is something that could be put up for a vote or not. It seems to me that would be a matter for site admin.
There is a myth flying around the forums and the myth is that TSM drove this decision. I don't believe that was the case at all. Russ and his team are obviously trying to fix certain problems inherent in the forums (notice they closed meet opponents). Those problems existed before TSM got here. My understanding is that for quite some time, users have privately and persistently complained to site admin about abuse of the forums.
All TSM did was provide a public voice for a recurring complaint that was heretofore hidden beneath the surface.
Originally posted by Red NightThat is misdirection. The rec issue and the closing of the Meet Opponents/abuse on the forums issues are not the same thing. TSM was at the centre of the rec issue. Also, your interpretation of what users privatelyand persistently do is pure conjecture. Let me guess those users whose complaints you do know of are in TSM?

Don't pretend that the rec issue was bought to the forefront for any other reason like abuse to individuals.

The only thing is, no one was bitching about it, except for a small handful of people that were instantly attacked for their insolence.
But now the Emperor has been shown to have no clothes, so everyone can stop pretending the problem didn't exist before.
Russ wouldn't have acted if there was no problem. Or are you accusing Russ of overreacting?

You're absolutely right on!
Originally posted by SuzianneI don't think there was an overreaction. I think the action happened to fast. Perhaps there should have been a vote. We all know who the handful of people who cried about this are. I don't think it was broken, so why did it need to be fixed?

There is so much relying on what the system is "supposed" to be. The RHP community and most active members in the community made it fun, and now it can't be done anymore.
The crybabies still are, and always will be, insolent
