Hey! I got a fast Internet connection! Faster than you can say: angel's of deviant sin has desecrated my sacred heart. It's the computer that's slow. Although I do have 1G RAM, 3Ghz processor, 2M p-cache, 100Mbit/s network connection*, 512Mhz bus speed...

Linux from a livedisk works perfectly. Windows executes as expected. But this Internet born linux in firefox thingie just doesn't cut it. Sad though. Good idea.

* Suppose it could be my network connection after all. 😕

Just had a look, and wasn`t overly impressed. Maybe it`s just one of those things that one gets used to. Didn`t like the graphics at all. They all looked like 8bit

I assume the desktop can be themed though. I know i wont be rushing out to download the stuff. Horses for courses etc etc. Think i`ll stay with the devil i know 😉

LOL

It's amazing how many miss the point. Unless, I suppose, one reminds oneself of the average IQ on this site.

Well it's there for anyone to try if they would like to.

I thought you,of all people, would've been in favour of people using Linux. 😲

Instead of putting them off with cryptic replies.
I once was about to install Linux and I realized I had to make a partition or delete all my stuff. To hell with it, XP works fine with me, I'm not about to go on a backup/reinstall rampage and I seriously don't want to make a partition of my disk.

Oh. Auch. That's what I always say. 😕 And here I am advocating themed X windows. 😕

Well, I suppose it only shows how incredibly flexible GNU/Linux can be. You can tailor it to just about any need. 🙂

Try a linux livedisk if you're really curious. Give the linux world the finger and turn your back if you're really not. Either way is good with me. 🙂

Eh? Linux is far safer than Windows. Creating a partition is a doddle as Linux recognizes your Windows partition...

Delete all your stuff? Backup/reinstall rampage? Where do you get your ideas from? 😕

That everyone seems to think this is a fully-working alternative to a proper installation of Linux.

I'm not that thrilled with Linspire so far because I can no longer play my games on this computer (such as Sims2 and any other game I own). The Linspire sim games are rather pathetic, at least the transportation one. I already used firefox and open office, so that wasn't a change. We'll see in the long run, though.

Yes. If you want to be like that about it.

But I always like to create a little suspense.*

*Don't worry, you're unlikely to get that.

Uhm, yea. You'll probably not be able to run your Windows games in linux. Not unless you use Wine, but then I'm not sure it will work with Direct X games or if it simply emulates the Win32 library.

Sorry to hear you're so dissapointed. You gotta admit that the spellchecker is kinda neat? Of course, being a teacher you probably don't need that. He... 😳
