My God, if this is how it is going to be when the Mods exercise their right to make a decision, imagine the chaos if we had no Mods. Its their decision to make, they do a nice job controlling a good chess site. I don't know Exy, but like everyone else posting here I know or know of the Mods, and they wouldnt do something like this without good reason. As mentioned before, this is not a democracy, but its not like they are tyrants either. Moderator is a perfect word to describe their role and they did their job. Who are we to say if it is just or not? We don't know the facts and don't need to. And if your gonna attack them for doing their job then just take the example of a few lost souls before you and leave the site. Just play chess everyone, and let the Mods keep doing their job, they know what they are doing

I taught chess for many years and have been tought by an IM myself for 2 years when I was much younger ... Neither myself nor any of my students did ever step up from 1200 to 2000 in less then 6 months (look at her rating in May, AND LOOK AT HER GAMES THEN !!!!)
It is almost impossible to being a 1200-1300 player going up to almost 2000, unless you are very new to chess and a true talent (and given the fact that Nyxie has been around for quite a while is a matter of fact) ...

I honestly think they may have mixed up NYXIE with EXY. Read the Nyxie post in the chess general discussion to see what I mean, Boris has a point there. She's a whole different story altogether playing wise then Exy, but the nicks are similar.

If a team is going to investigate players they need to include a wide range of evidence. One game is not enough, otherwise Tebb would have to resign as a player.
A couple days ago Exy PM'd me saying that he was under investigation for using a chess engine. We talked about what had happened and he revealed to me that he was d/ling games and putting them in his Winboard program to analyze. Of course he didn't use the engine, but he did analyze the games from Winboard.
I suggested he let Russ know what he had done and I felt the need to PM Russ myself, to make sure the mod team was taking other factors into consideration. Then both of us waited to see what was going to happen.
Well, I was told that there were some other things involved. Things which couldn't be revealed to myself... Another day passed and then BOOM! Exy's gone.
It's a terrible loss. Exy was my friend and team captain. He beat me many times in chess and I never found any of our games to match an engine at a high percentage rate.
So in my heart I feel as though he has been wronged, but I must admit that I really do not know what tools the mod team has. I do not have the "evidence" to look at and decide for myself.
